Lindsey ducks her head. “I didn’t mean to get her in trouble. I told her I saw them hurting our mama’s.”
Drae clears his throat. “Yes, and I know after our talk with Patch that none of that happened to you and that you didn’t see any of that. I misunderstood part of what you said this morning. That’s why I want to apologize. I’ll talk to Mae once she’s awake, but for right now, I need to talk to Timber. Okay?”
I narrow my eyes at him. He saidsee. He didn’t mention anything abouthearingit.
Drea gives me a slight nod when he looks over at me, and I bite my tongue hard to keep from cursing up a storm.
Mother-fucking assholes.
“Okay, Daddy.”
He gives her a kiss on the cheek and sits her back down in her chair.
I turn on my heel, going into the kitchen and head straight for the coffeepot. “I can’t be long because I have to get water up to Smoke so he can take his pills,” I tell him as I fill a mug for both of us.
I take a quick peak in the fridge, but nothing’s ready-made. I’ll have to see if someone can whip something up for us later since I need to get upstairs to Sunshine and so Smoke can take his meds.
Drae sighs. “I really am sorry, Timber. I really did misunderstand part of it and thought Mae knew something she didn’t tell me. Still, I shouldn’t have acted like I had.”
“She really didn’t know. Before she fell asleep, she said Lindsey had told her what they’d done to both of their moms in front of her. But I also realize you said ‘see’ earlier. She heard them raping them, didn’t she?”
He nods and once again, I curb my need to curse. The fuckers will get their punishment soon enough.
Tucking a water bottle and straw into my back pocket, I grip both mugs.
Looking at him as he stares out the pass-through at Lindsey, I stop when I’m standing next to him, pitching my voice low.
“Mae said that when we decide to deal with our problems, she told me to make sure you got your own in, too. I want a few good licks in on Bruce for what he did to Mae. Though, just so you know, the damage on Mae’s wrists and ankles is her trying to break her chains free. Not from what Bruce did to her. We’ll find out who hurt Jane the most, and you can take care of it if you want.”
He looks at me in surprise. “Seriously?”
“Yeah, I mean it. Unless you already know who hurt Jane, Lillian, and of course Lindsey, the most.”
His face hardens. “Lindsey said Preston was the main one that hurt Jane, so I want him. I know you all want to beat on him for what he’s done to Mae over the years, but if I could have him, I would appreciate it. As for Lillian, it was Bruce, a few other guys with the same snake tattoo as Bruce’s, and X.”
“Lindsey?”
Drae frowns as he crosses his arms over his chest, looking out the window at Lindsey. “She was hit a few times, but mainly got starved, so I don’t know who to punish for that.”
“Okay. I’ll see to it that you get yours and will let you know when it’s okay to come up and see Mae. Now, I better get up there before the fool tries to move without taking his meds first.”
Grinning, I turn and head upstairs, gently knocking with my boot since my hands are full.
Punisher opens the door and I pause when I see Mae shifting on the bed and whimpering.
“I think she’s having nightmares. She’s not responding to my voice, but maybe she will to you,” he says.
Nodding, I set the coffee mugs down and look over at Smoke. “Let’s get you situated quick.”
Opening the water, I put the straw in and hand it to him before going over to his meds on the dresser. Grabbing his pill, I hold it out and he shifts slightly before putting it in his mouth and swallowing it.
“Do you want us to get you upright now, or wait for them to kick in?”
“Now. You took your sweet ass time and now I have to go since Doc put the IV back in and hasn’t taken it back out yet.”
“Sorry. Drae caught me and we talked about shit.” He raises his eyebrows in question, but I shake my head. “Vertical first, so you can take a piss. Good thing Levi got you sweats last night cause I sure as fuck wasn’t gonna hold your dick for you.”
That earns me a strained chuckle out of him, but I’m fucking serious.
