"I don't know how they didn't all fall in love with you, but I'm happy they didn't."

Rolling her eyes, she waved him away. "Go. I need to make this call before Margo calls me, or I won't hear the end of it."

"Fine." He pushed to his feet and walked over to the bar.

"One cold Coke coming up," Bob said. "And a bag of peanuts."

"Were you eavesdropping?"

"Of course. I hear everything that's being said on my deck."

"That's creepy. Were you told to do that?"

"I was told to anticipate my clients' needs. How else am I going to achieve that objective if I don't listen to what they say?"

"Do you report what you hear?"

The robot tilted his head in a very human way. "Why would I do that?"

"It's called spying."

A brief moment passed with Bob probably scanning his database of knowledge for what it meant to be a spy. "I see. I was not told to spy. Should I?"

"No, you shouldn't." Dagor shook his head. "I need to talk to William."

"He's right over there." Bob pointed with his long metallic arm.

Dagor must have been so absorbed in the conversation with Frankie that he hadn't noticed William and his mate arriving on the Lido deck and sitting on the other side of the pool.

"I will. Can you give me one more coke?"

"Of course, master."

Frankie was still on the phone with her friend when Dagor returned to their table. He put her drink and the bag of peanuts down, kissed her on the cheek, and continued to the other side of the pool.

"Good morning," he greeted William and Kaia. "May I join you?"

"Take a seat." William pointed at the lounger next to him. "I see that Frankie is feeling much better today."

"Yes, she is." Dagor affected a sly smile. "My venom must have sped up her recovery. She woke up this morning fully healed."

"That's amazing," Kaia said. "I wish we could bottle it and use it as a miracle cure. The problem is that it only activates once it's injected into a body. I tried to collect William's venom and run tests on it, but what I found could not explain any of the effects it has. It's such a bummer."

William didn't look happy about her sharing that information, but Kaia ignored his frown. Instead, she lifted her head and looked in the direction of the railing. "The ship is turning around. Did we forget someone in Acapulco?"

"Maybe." William rose to his feet. "But I doubt it. Maybe it has to do with the women we rescued." He pulled out his phone and frowned at the display. "Whatever the reason, we should have been notified of the change in plans."

Sensing Frankie approaching, Dagor turned to look at her.

She was still clutching the phone to her ear and looked worried. "What's going on? Why are we turning around?"

As Dagor's and William's phones simultaneously buzzed with incoming messages, Dagor tensed. "Something is up." He pulledout his phone and read the message. "Please report to the dining hall for an emergency meeting."

"I got the same thing," William said.

"I didn't." Kaia stared at her phone and then looked up. "If only you guys are being summoned, it has to do with what happened yesterday, and there is trouble."

"I'll call you right back," Frankie said to her friend and ended the call. "I didn't get anything either, and I'm officially freaking out. I bet the damn amulet showed Jacki another village being attacked and more women being taken." She started shaking. "I can't believe that it's happening again."
