I think of deleting my message as I suddenly feel foolish, but he’s already seen it, so I wait for his response.

Kyle: Of course, it is. I think I should rephrase my question. Darling, please would you do me the honor of having dinner with me?

I feel giddy as I read his response and I quickly respond;of course.

Kyle: Pick you up by seven?

Me: see you by seven.

“And she’s zoned out again…” Daisy drawls as she picks at her vegetable salad. Even though she’s a size 4, she still obsesses about her weight and talks about how she wants to lose weight.

I think it’s because her mom is a model, she so much wants to be like her even though she doesn’t have any plan of becoming a model if this girl can survive on air, she would do that.

“I’m sorry, I was just responding to a text.” I put my phone aside as I try to think of what I’m going to wear to my dinner with Kyle. Maybe I should go shopping. Yeah, I definitely need to go shopping.

I try my best to concentrate as Jasmine tells us the things each of us needs to do in other to make Lilian’s party a success. The moment we were done, I went shopping for a new dress, purse, and shoes, I even got a new Chanel perfume. Why not?

“You look dashing,” Kyle says to me as we are seated in the back of his Bentley on our way to have dinner.

I can’t stop myself from blushing. “You don’t look too bad yourself.” Who am I kidding? He looks incredibly handsome in his bespoke charcoal gray suit which fits him like a second skin, accentuating his athletic physique.

Kyle takes my right hand and kisses the back of my palm. “You still won’t tell me where we’re going?” I ask.

“Nope. You will find out when we get there.” He leans down and gives me a peck on my cheek and then whispers, “You smell nice.”

“Thanks,” I respond grinning from ear to ear.

Kyle tells me about his day and how he was on the verge of killing his cousin because he was always getting on his nerves.

Soon, we pull up in front of a five-star Mexican restaurant. And I’m elated that we’re going to have Mexican food, but something feels strange. L&B restaurant is a very popular restaurant and most times it takes weeks before one can be able to book an appointment.

But right now, as we pull into the restaurant, it’s devoid of cars, and when we step inside, I discover that it’s devoid of customers as well.

The only persons in the restaurant, are a few waiters who have wide smiles on their faces when they see us walking in.

“Welcome Mr. And Mrs. Anderson,” one of the waiters says showing us to a table that is by a window, and then it dawns on me. Kyle had rented out the whole restaurant for us to have dinner.

I shake my head smiling as he pulls out a chair for me to sit. “How were you able to pull this off?”

“What are you talking about?” Kyle feigns ignorance taking a sip of his water.

“Of course, you know what I’m talking about. Everyone knows how hard it is to get a reservation in L&B and then you book the whole place just for us to have dinner.”

He shrugs like it’s nothing. “I made a few calls.”

I etch a brow asking him to say more. “Okay, I might know the owner.”

Sometimes I forget how powerful and influential Kyle’s family is. My family is rich, quite alright, but it’s child’s play in comparison to how much money Kyle’s family has and how much power they have in this city.

Kyle reaches across the table and takes my hand in his gently caressing it. “It wasn’t a big deal.”

Maybe not for him, but for me it is, no one has ever gone to such lengths just to have dinner with me.

A certain guy I was supposedly dating in the past, forgot to make a reservation and kept insisting that he did when we got to the restaurant and we couldn’t get a table. So yeah, this is a big deal for me.

A waiter brings a bucket containing a bottle of champagne to our table and as Kyle pours us some champagne he goes on to ask, “What would you like to have?”

I take a glass he hands me taking a sip of the bubbly drink thinking of what I would like to have. The waiter is waiting to take our orders.
