I turn to look at Daisy with a wide smile on my face. “How do you mean?” I raise my voice so I can be heard over the loud pounding music at the club. It’s Monday night and I dragged she, Jasmine and Lilian out to the club to celebrate Lilian’s birthday even though they all wanted to stay back at Lilian’s parents’ place and have a slumber party.

I know they are surprised because ever since I got married to Kyle it has always been them trying to drag me out and I always had excuses why I didn’t want to go out.

Thinking about it now, I realize that I allowed Kyle to dull my shine. Just few weeks of being married to him, I already gave up partying and started playing house, now look at how that went.

I’m not going to allow anyone to tell me how to live my life, not Kyle and not even my parents.

“You’ve been acting strange these past few days, are you sure everything is alright?” Lilian asks, I can see the concern on her face.

I didn’t tell any of them what’s going between Kyle and I, not even Jasmine whom I always tell everything. How am I supposed to say that? The more I think about it the more I realize how stupid I am for thinking that Kyle could actually love me.

“I’m fine.” I reach for my drink and gulp it down, wincing as the vodka burns its way down my throat.

When I place my glass down, I realize they are all looking at me none of them buying what I’m saying.

“What? Isn’t this what you all wanted?” I turn to Daisy “Didn’t you always complain that I’ve changed since I got married and didn’t spend enough time with you girls?”

Daisy slowly shakes her head. “Yeah, but something just seems off.”

Jasmine stands up and comes to my side without saying a word she pulls me out of my chair. “What is your problem?”

“We are going for a chat.” She has a firm grip on my arm as she starts walking towards the restroom.

The line at the bathroom isn’t long and when it’s our turn Jasmine pulls me inside and locks the door.

“Jas, I love you but I’m not into girls,” I say with a giggle.

She ignores my snide remark and leans against the bathroom door. “What is going on?”

I shrug feigning nonchalance. “Nothing.” I open my purse and take out my red lipstick but before I get the chance to applying it on my lips Jasmine reaches out and grabs it.

“Enough with the act. Something is clearly eating you up.”

I roll my eyes scoffing as I dab sweat from my forehead with a tissue. “You act like you know me so well.”

“That’s because I do.”

“Well, you don’t. I’m fine, so please drop it.”

“If everything is fine, why have you been partying all week like your life depends on it? And then dancing with every man in your line of sight?”

“Can’t a girl party again?”

Jasmine tries to speak but gets interrupted when someone starts pounding on the bathroom door.

“I’m not done!” Jasmine barks at whoever is at the other end of the door.

I close the small space between us and place my hands on her shoulders. “Jas, I know you’re bothered because you care, but you’re worrying over nothing, I’m fine.”

“Jewel…”

I raise my hand shutting her up as I open the door. And as I step out, I see that an angry line has formed waiting to use the restroom.

“Why not get a room?!” The first girl in line says in anger as she steps inside. Jasmine flips her the finger.

“Where are you going?”

“To the dance floor.” I hand her my purse. “Take this back to our table for me, will you?”
