Matt shook his head. “There has to be more to it than happiness. Let’s pretend that the potential career damage isn’t a factor. Have you ever thought about what your daughter will think about this?”

“Don’t drag Mia into it.”

“You need to weigh all the options and stop thinking with your dick.”

My hands clenched into fists as I bit back the words on the tip of my tongue.

“Consider what you’re doing,” Matt said as he stood up. “The cleaners are only here once a week. You’re lucky that they found it before someone else did.”

I crossed my arms and arched an eyebrow. “Do I need to worry about you?”

“Me? Telling people about your little office affair? No. I may not support your actions, but you have been in a better mood since you started seeing Georgia. And I like her. She’s got a backbone.”

Matt grinned and left the office, closing the door behind him. I sighed and ran my hands down my face when he was gone.

Keeping my relationship with Georgia a secret would be more complex than expected. Matt may keep his mouth shut, but that doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t make snide comments in front of others to prove a point.

Maybe it’s time that we came clean about what is going on.

The moon was shining bright, and the waves crashed against the shore as Georgia, and I walked across the sand. I took her hand and spun her around in a circle before pulling her back to me.

Her sweet laugh as she collided with me was music to my ears.

“You’re in a better mood than you were at work today,” she said as she looked up at me.

I kissed her quickly. “Matt came to see me this morning. It made the rest of the day seem to drag on.”

“What did he want?”

“The cleaners found one of your thongs in my bathroom. I told him about it since he was the one there.”

Her cheeks turned a bright red. I was sure she was thinking about what we had gotten up to one afternoon in that washroom.

“I’m starting to think that we should just tell everyone we’re dating. Of course, there will be some shit we have to deal with, but it would be better than Matt outing us to people.”

Her eyebrows pulled together, a thin line forming between them. “Do you think that he would go around telling people?”

“No. He won’t. You don’t have to worry about him, but I am getting tired of hiding this.”

Georgia nodded and turned away from me. She crossed her arms and looked out at the waves.

When she turned back to me, her bottom lip quivered slightly.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, taking a step toward her. “Are you okay? We don’t have to tell people yet. I think that we should start thinking about it.”

Georgia nodded. “I know you’re right. We must think about it, but I can’t talk now.”

“Alright. We don’t have to.”

I reached for her, but she stepped away and shook her head. Tendrils of her hair hung loose around her face, and the rest pulled back. The breeze ruffled those tendrils, sending them flying as she took a deep breath.

“I’m pregnant,” she said, her voice breaking slightly. Her eyes were glassy as she looked up at me. “I found out yesterday afternoon, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell you.”

I grinned and pulled her into a hug. “This is great! You think it’s great, don’t you?”

She shrugged and pulled back slightly to look up at me. Her arms looped around my waist. “I didn’t know what to think, to be honest. I wasn’t sure if you would be happy about this.”

“It does make everything a little more complicated, but I’m happy to have another child.”
