Jordan shook his head. “We have a case to solve. A very important case. Are you ready to go?”

Jordan was right, but he wasn’t giving up the idea of Camila being their woman, and if they helped her solve this case and find out who was taking children, then she would know they were the good guys. Maybe she’d even settle down with them.

And it was beyond important that they find this organization of child abductors because it was terrifying for everyone he knew and loved. They had to catch these assholes and put them in jail.

“Let me put on pants and shirt and I’ll go with you to get her car. Do we have her keys?”

Jordan sighed. “No, I’ll get them.”

Oh no, he wanted to see Camila just as much as Jordan did.

“Wait, I’m coming with you,” Ely said not wanting Jordan to get time alone with Camila without him. He wanted to see her this morning and hoped that a little rest had cleared the fog from her brain.

After he finished dressing, they hurried from the room. When they reached the guest room, they heard the hair dryer going.

Jordan knocked on the door and she opened it, wrapped in a towel. Oh, how Ely wanted to pull that material from her body and show her that last night had not been a dream but a reality she could experience every day – two men making her feel wonderful. Two men giving her everything she desired.

“Good morning,” Jordan said. “We’re going to get your car if you’ll give me the keys.”

A smile filled her face. “Thank you. I’ve been wondering what I was going to wear. I’m a little sick of that evening gown.”

“You could stay here all day and be naked,” Ely said, realizing how sexist that sounded just as soon as he said it.

“No,” she said. “We have a case to explore.”

She was right, but still it felt good to say the words.

“Give us thirty minutes and we’ll be back with your suitcase. Then I thought we’d go to the office and see what we could find out about our previous case and also look for any other children. I got to thinking last night. What if this has been going on for several years right under our noses and we didn’t know? I need to do some research.”

She nodded. “I want to go back to the Santos family and see if we can learn anything else and also find out about that car.”

“Me too,” Ely said wanting to be a part of this conversation. Damn, she smelled so good and he wanted to lean into her and take a deep breath, but that would probably not be a good idea.

“You finish drying your hair and as soon as we get back, you can dress and then we’ll head back to the office,” Jordan said.

She walked back into the room and dug into her purse for the keys. “See you soon.”

When she closed the door, Ely sighed. “Damn, she’s one hot woman.”

“Keep your dick in your pants. We have a job to do,” Jordan said. “A child to save. And if we help Camila solve this case, maybe then she’ll consider us.”

“Let’s do it,” Ely said wanting to catch these thieves. He wanted to save Marta, and he wanted Camila to look at them like they were her heroes. He wanted to be the one who pleased her.

CHAPTER8

As soon as she heard Jordan’s truck leave, she ran naked downstairs and began to search through the house. She didn’t know what she was searching for, but she wanted to see if there was anything she could find that would connect them to the missing child’s case.

Her hair was still wet, but she didn’t care. She needed this time to search their house. Could there be a basement? After she’d gone through the downstairs, she raced outside to the barn, dressed in only her towel.

She was running out of time. They would be back at any moment and yet she did a preliminary search of the barn. No, it wasn’t as thorough as she wanted, but so far nothing. All she had was the child’s shirt that she managed to sneak out of the bathroom from the office.

Disappointed and yet relieved, she finally returned to the house.

Barns were smelly and she had to wear her heels, which she wasn’t certain they would ever be the same. Horse shit clung to the glittery fabric.

With a sigh, she wrapped them in a plastic trash bag she found and then dropped them in the kitchen trash. She’d loved those shoes, but they were ruined.

His truck pulled into the drive and she hurried upstairs to blow dry her hair again. It was mostly dry, but she needed it to look like she’d done something to it.
