Brian has always been prone to anger issues and dark moods that left him locked up and isolated for weeks.

I’ve grown up alongside Brian, forced to familiarize myself with his every whim, mood, and trigger.

Another part of me knows it’s not just his mood and anger to blame.

And now I hear that he's had some hallucination episodes, he believe that everyone is after him.

His violent streak and anger issues makes me think of our father.

A shadow of a man who darted in and out of our lives. Until the plane crash that claimed his life and mom.

With a slight shake of my head, I turn my attention back to Brian. He has moved away from the window and is pacing the room. “I shouldn’t have come here.”

I take a step in his direction. “This is exactly where you need to be. Four Elements Ranch, with all its offerings, can help you overcome many things. I have read hundreds of guest testimonials. Brian, I'm not just saying things to make you feel better. Trust me when I tell you that it will help you. And you get to rest and relax with no one bothering you." I pause for a second and observe Brian, who's looking straight at me.

"You just have to do a few thing for me. Listen to me, follow the rules here, and don't do anything without talking to me first. Do not leave your room at anytime. I have a reputation to protect and a business to run. I can't jeopardize anything, including your sanity and safety.” I pause and watch him again. He looks anxious.

“Your staff knows too much.” Brian’s hands curl into a fist at his side. “They’re going to talk about me. They won’t be able to help themselves.”

“No, they won't. And you are not going to receive any special treatment or attention,” I maintain, giving him a solemn look. “I’ve got everything worked out.”

And all I need him to do is lie low and allow this place to work its magic.

Even Brian isn’t immune to the healing nature of the Four Elements Ranch.

Or at least I hope he isn’t.

Because the truth is I don’t have any other way to be able to help my brother.

If the specialized diet, regimen of physical exercises, yoga, meditation, daily sessions with the therapist, and the serene environment of the ranch don’t help, I have no idea where to turn next.

I hope that my brother is not beyond help.

Brian is like a fucking cat with nine lives. He’s survived much worse, and he’s going to be just fine.

Brian abruptly stops pacing and perches on the edge of the bed. “I wish I had your confidence.”

“I’m going to go check on a few details, and I’ll be back with a snack.”

Without waiting for a response, I leave the room and step out into the hallway.

He’s in a room connected to the main cabin, usually reserved for our VIP guests, so there’s less chance of him getting into trouble.

Still, as I cross over to the main cabin and walk over to Maureen, my stomach is full of knots.

“How are preparations going for that guest we discussed?”

Maureen glances around and lowers her voice. “I’ve instructed everyone, Mr. Steele. As far as the guests are concerned, your brother is not on the premises. No one even knows or aware of such a guest here. I just mentioned to all that he’s a very sensitive special guest and that no one is allowed to go to his room. And no one knows exactly what room he's in. Sir, I think it's best if you move him to the alpha cabin. He will have plenty of space to move around. He can even come out in the open and no one will see him. Since it's a restricted area.”

“Ok, I will think about that. The only problem is that the alpha cabin is a little far, and it will take more time for me to visit him and more effort to watch over him. I can't leave him alone for long. And I don't think he needs that. That's a VIP cabin in high demand, and I rather keep that cabin available for our guests. Have you told the staff not to approach the special guest's room?”

“They will not approach the other Mr. Steele without your express permission. They don't even know what's going on. You did a great job, sir, of keeping things discrete.”

“And if my brother asks for anything?”

“I handle it discreetly,” Maureen replies, promptly. “And if there’s any kind of leak, you’ll be the first to know, Mr. Steele.”

I straighten my spine. “Make sure that the rest of the staff knows what I will do if anyone breathes a word about us having a special guest on the premises. Not only will I terminate their contract, but I’ll make it my personal mission to ensure they never work in the hospitality business again.”
