“Ah. Yeah. I mean. No. I’m fine.”

“Are you sure? You look flushed.”

Harker half-snorted. He had a smug look on his handsome face. The bastard had known she was watching and had been stroking that pen on purpose.

“Sorry.” He cleared his throat and fake coughed.

“My head hurts a little.” She touched her temple. “But I’m fine.”

“I know exactly what will help your headache,” mumbled Harker.

“Me too.” This was the arrogant ass that drove her crazy. “I just need some water and to use the restroom.” She pushed herself out of the chair.

“That’s what I was going to suggest. Water.” He stood. “I’ll get you some.”

“No need.” She left the room. She was not having sex with him ever again.

“It’ll be right here, waiting for you,” he called out after her retreating form.

She wanted to yell back that he’ll be waiting forever because she wasn’t going back into that office. The meeting was done as far as she was concerned.

CHAPTER 32: Alison

Alison sat in her office, staring at the computer and twitching at every little sound. It’d been almost an hour since she’d left the meeting. Both Merri and Tobias had stopped by her office to make sure she was okay but not Harker. She knew he was planning an attack on her senses, and she had to be ready.

Her phone beeped. Her hand shook as she flipped it over.

HARKER: Come to my office.

The blood pounded in her ears. If she went into his office right now, she’d have sex with him. She was weak and he knew it. She could ignore his text, but the damn man would just come and find her. She glanced at Mac who sat across from her lost in the world of code. Harker wouldn’t drag her out of her office like he had at La Petite Mort Club, would he? Her phone beeped again.

HARKER: It’s not that far of a walk. Why are you not in here?

Oh, she hated that man and hated herself for still wanting him. She stood, her libido doing a happy dance. She had to stay strong, but how was she going to do that? She’d wanted to jump him just by looking at his fingers. The only reason she hadn’t had been because Merri and Tobias had been there. That was it. She looked across the room, smiling at Mac.

CHAPTER 33: Harker

Harker glanced at the door. Alison should be here any minute. He tried to keep his dick from punching a hole through his pants, but it’d been over a week since he’d touched her.

He’d tried everything he could think of, but she was staying true to her threat this time. He stood, grabbing the front of his shirt and flapping it back and forth as he walked around his office. She liked his scent; he’d fill the fucking room with it.

He’d been ready to pounce on her during the meeting. She’d spent the entire time he’d been talking staring at his mouth. It’d taken every ounce of control he’d had to keep his dick from tenting his pants. Then he’d noticed her glancing at his hands during Merri’s part of the meeting. He’d decided to give her something to watch when Tobias had been talking.

It’d worked too well. He’d wanted her hot and horny but not fleeing the room. When she hadn’t returned after her escape to the bathroom, he’d almost hunted her down. Almost. The only thing that’d stopped him was the fact that he’d probably weep like a baby if she refused him. He’d needed to shift the odds more in his favor. So, he’d taken a quick shower. Now, he hoped he smelled like fucking catnip to her.

He leaned against his desk, but his cock was way too obvious in this pose. A week ago that would’ve been perfect, but he wasn’t sure about that anymore. He wasn’t sure about anything with her. He moved behind his desk as she stepped into his office...with Mac.

“What the…” He clamped his mouth shut and counted to three. He’d been going to count to ten, but he just didn’t have the patience. “Did you need something, Mac?”

“I asked him to join me.” By the smug look on Alison’s face she’d brought the kid as a shield, but it wouldn’t work. “Since I’m going to be out for an extended period soon”—she ran her hand over her belly—“I thought Mac should start attending these meetings with me.” She smiled sweetly but her eyes glinted with challenge.

“That’s an excellent idea.” He loved how her smile faltered a bit and her eyes grew wary. “I’ll let Merri know for the next meeting. Mac, there’s no reason for you to be here for this…discussion.”

“Oh. Okay.” Mac glanced at Alison and turned to leave.

“Wait.” She grabbed the kid’s arm. “I think you should stay.”

“Alison”—he motioned to the chair in front of his desk—“have a seat. Mac, close the door behind you.”
