I set our bags down and grinned. “Only the best for you, baby.”

“What else is included in this deluxe romance package?”

“Two spa treatments, a three-course dinner for two, gourmet breakfast every morning, and hors d’oeuvres every night. There’s also a heated mineral pool with jacuzzi, private lake, and fourteen acres of nature,” I replied.

Liv threw her arms around my neck. “I can’t believe you did all this for me.”

I wrapped her in my arms and kissed her softly. “Well, believe it, baby.” I pressed my lips to hers again. “Now, get ready because I’m starving.”

She bit down on her bottom lip and gazed up at me seductively. “Well, we have this delicious food and champagne here.”

I arched a brow as she knelt in front of me and unzipped my jeans. “And I don’t think I can wait to give you my personal thanks.”

As she took me in her mouth, I could already tell our weekend was going to be spectacular.

After the best first course a man could ask for, we opted for room service for dinner. We were both exhausted from traveling and wanted to relax in our room, which was incredible. Hardwood floors, a fireplace, a king-size bed, and a bathroom with a separate old-school basin tub. Plus, the balcony had an amazing view of the lake.

Liv was in heaven. After dinner, she took a bubble bath while I watched some TV on the huge flat-screen mounted above the fireplace. I was already dreading leaving, and we had the whole weekend ahead of us.

When Liv emerged from the bathroom, she exhaled a sigh of pleasure. She joined me on the bed, cuddling up next to me. “What’s on the agenda for tomorrow?”

“We have our spa treatments tomorrow—whatever treatment you want, you can have. Then I thought we could go to the lake and maybe hike some of the trails. I wanted to check out a few waterfalls in the mountains.”

She snuggled closer to me, yawning. “I can’t wait.”

I chuckled as I pressed a kiss to her forehead. “We have a big day ahead of us, so you better get some sleep.”

“Mmm hmm,” she murmured before yawning again. Within minutes, she was fast asleep in my arms.

We woke up bright and early to have breakfast before heading to the spa for our treatments. Liv decided to get some girly treatment package, and I decided to keep it simple with a traditional massage.

After that, we headed to the lake, where we tried stand-up paddle-boarding. Liv was a natural, her agility from dance and cheerleading in high school helping with maintaining balance while on the board. I, on the other hand, fell in a few times, but it was worth all of Liv’s laughter and smiles.

Then we went for a hike through the mountains. We stopped at a peak that had the most incredible view. Miles of trees, rivers, and other mountains in the distance spanned the landscape in front of us. “Wow.”

“Oh my God,” Liv whispered, leaning against me. “This is breathtaking.”

I draped an arm around her. “Too bad we don’t have views like this in Beaufort.”

She giggled. “Beaufort has its own beauty. A summer sunset on the water is pretty tough to beat.”

I smiled, pressing a kiss atop her head. Liv had always loved the ocean. That was one of the reasons I’d been surprised that she’d actually left and didn’t come back.

We admired the view for a few minutes before I squeezed her shoulder. “C’mon, I heard there’s a waterfall we can’t miss somewhere around here.”

I linked our fingers together and pulled her behind me. We walked for another thirty minutes before we found the waterfall. After walking in the hot sun, a dip in the cool water was just what I needed.

I slipped off my backpack and tugged off my shirt.

“What are you doing?” Liv questioned.

I cocked my eyebrow at her. “Uh, jumping in. I’m hotter than a hog on a spit.”

She looked around as I unbuttoned my jeans. “You can’t do that.”

“Oh, yeah?” I unzipped my zipper and kicked off my boots before stepping out of my pants. “Who’s gonna stop me?”

Her eyes went straight to my boxer briefs, and her cheeks reddened. She stammered, “I … um …”
