"Of course."

"And you got payment for the last one, right?"

"I did. I would tell you if I didn't. Nicely, of course." He handed the second gyros over to Damien.

"I'm glad to hear it." I flashed him a friendly smile. "We'll see you next week."

"I'm sure you will," he responded, waving goodbye to us.

The cool evening air bit through the thin fabric of my dress now that the weather was on the turn. A shiver ran down my spine. It'd be fine. We'd be back at my penthouse within ten minutes and then I could warm up in Damien's arms.

"Here," he said, passing me his food.

I took it from him, frowning in confusion until he'd shrugged off his jacket.

"You should keep that."

"No, I've got sleeves," he responded. "And next week we'll bring a coat for you."

"I meant to bring one today, I just completely forgot with all of the last-minute prep that was needed for this one. A nightmare client that I'll be glad if I never have to work with again."

He took the food from me so I could slip on his tux jacket. "You helped them raise a record amount of money, they're going to be back in your office on Monday."

I groaned and pulled the jacket closer around me, bringing his smell closer and soothing me a little bit. He gave me back my gyro. "I hope they won't be back on Monday."

"If they are, message me the date when you put it into your computer and I'll get Aine to schedule a Jinx event that she absolutely must have you for."

I chuckled. "Are you using your powers of event planning for evil?"

"Always."

My smile hurt my cheeks, but that was no surprise. After several months of dates and fancy parties, I knew that this was something real. I picked out a chip from my wrap and bit into it, looking up to find Damien watching me with a strange expression on his face.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I was just thinking about how much I love you."

My breathing hitched as the words sank in. "I love you too," I responded, half surprised at how easily the words had come. It was a long time since I'd said them to anyone.

Damien stepped forward and kissed me very softly, being careful of the food we were both holding. Though right now, I barely cared about it. I was just giddy for a moment I didn't know I wanted.

We broke apart, and I knew there'd be no keeping the smile off my face. Not today, not tomorrow, not for a long time to come.
