“Did you just threaten to kill him?” My voice was high pitched, my indignation clear in that tone as I looked intently at Liam’s broad shoulders, waiting for him to turn and finally face me.

He shrugged as if that was what a normal Friday night was about, throwing my exact words back at me, “Maybe. What’s it to you?”

Liam had hell burning behind his eyes, his hair a rugged mess giving him that dangerous vibe I’d recognized in him that first day, his laid-back jeans and t-shirt far from his normal office attire, and with one long hard look, I was feeling myself ready to make a bad, bad decision.

Fuck he was beautiful. What was it about this man that had me melting with nothing but his presence?

I shook my head, focusing on what had just happened, bringing back the outrage I was feeling before, “What the fuck, Liam?”

“Was that your date?” He asked, but he wasn’t expecting an answer. I could see that much in his eyes.

“That’s none of your goddamn business.”

“I’m guessing not.” His tone was passive-aggressive, and I knew he was trying to etch under my skin however he could just to prove that he could. His eyes dropped to my feet, slowly climbing up as he took in every inch of me, his head cocking to the side once they landed on my exposed thighs. I watched as his tongue darted to his lips, sweeping a trail of wetness across as he finished his assessment, “Who’s the fucker you’ve dressed like that for?”

“Again, none of your business. How did you get here so fast? What are you even doing here?”

“If you hadn’t ignored your phone, you’d see I told you I was coming to get you.”

“I’m off the clock, Boss. You don’t get to dictate the rules in my personal life, too.”

His jaw clenched a couple of times as he gravitated closer towards me, “Did he kiss you?” I stood there, forcing the blank expression to stay on my face, my eyes boring into his without uttering a word. “Did he?” Liam pressed, in a grunt that felt every little bit like possession.

“No.” I simply clipped.

“Did you want him to?” I saw from the tic in his jaw and the murder in his eyes just how much those words cut on their way out, and I was enjoying it all too much.

“What if I did?” Liam’s hand shot to his hair, his fingers wreaking havoc in his dark strands while all his muscles pumped in rage, pulling out a sarcastic laugh from my chest. “Jealousy doesn’t suit you well,” I simply stated, his eyes hardening even further at the impact of my words.

“It fucking suits you to perfection. Lets me know exactly where I stand.”

“And where is that, Mr. Dornier?”

“On the wrong side of a fucking promise.” He hissed right back at me, his face now as close as it could be to mine without touching it.

“Yours to keep and yours to break. I never asked you to make it.” I was baiting him, treading a fine, hazardous line when I knew I shouldn’t walk this walk, even though all I wanted right now was to feel his fingers on my throat again, his dirty words in my ear, and his hard cock between my legs.

“What are you saying, Jamie?”

I wasn’t going to fall for that one. Seeing him squirm because of me was too damn delicious to pass on. I wanted more. I wanted him to break first this time. I wanted to sink my teeth so far into that wound that he’d be feeling me in his damn bones.

“Nothing. I’m just trying to have fun tonight, and you just scared my fun away. My father is miles away from here, and you’re not it, so what the hell are you doing here?”

“Wishing you a happy fucking birthday.”

“Noted. Thank you so very much.” Sarcasm was dripping from my tongue, along with irritation, as I stood tall and faced him head on. “Now, I have someone waiting for me. Good night, Mr. Dornier.”

“You’re not going anywhere.” Liam grabbed my wrist as I was about to leave him standing in the middle of the dance floor, dragging me towards the edge of the club.

“Get your hands off me.” I pulled and tugged, trying to break free. Liam suddenly stopped, turning towards me, and in my frenzy to get out of his grasp, I crashed right into him, face and palm planted on his hard chest, trying my best not to spill the rest of my drink all over him.

Just like the first time, Liam wrapped an arm around my waist, holding me tight against him, but this time, I could feel it in his hold that he wasn’t going to let go. I looked up, meeting his hypnotic gaze, all my walls crashing to piles of soft sand as he stared at me, too, his hot breath fanning my face.

“God, you're beautiful,” I whispered, Liam’s lips tugging upward in a sly smirk. “Shit! Did I say that out loud?”

“Yup.”

“I take it back.” I tore my gaze away, tipping my glass and downing the entire contents, a single drop escaping through the side of my mouth. I used my thumb to wipe it clean before taking it into my mouth and slowly sucking, my eyes suddenly captured by his, seeing just how much this little gesture messed with him.
