“Thank you for lunch. It was delicious.” He turns to leave, but I pull him back towards me.

“I know something else that is delicious.” I rub my breasts against his chest to give him a hint.

“Oh, I know you are, and I promise to spend all night worshiping your body, but right now, I need to impress you with my cooking skills.”

He gives me a chaste kiss and pulls away.

“Then tonight, it is on.” I give him a seductive smile before turning around to wash the dishes.

I am finishing up with the last few dishes when Mara joins me in the kitchen. “The guys just left, so let’s talk about tonight.”

“Is it just me, or do the guys seem like they are up to something?”

Maybe I am making a big deal out of nothing, but it seems like they are scheming or planning something. Either that or something is going on with them that they are trying to hide.

“They are planning something.” She says confidently.

“Like what? Do you know something?”

I ask, knowing that if Damien was planning something, she would keep it from me so I could enjoy the surprise.

“No!” She shakes her head from side to side. “I have no clue what it is, but I do know they are acting weirder than normal, and that usually indicates cheating or something big.”

“Something big? Like?” My eyebrows furrow as I think about what it could be. Usually, the big things are babies and marriage, and I know for a fact that I am not pregnant.

Mara’s and my eyes widen as our mouths drop open. We have the same thought at the same time, but I manage to speak first.

“No!” My voice is full of shock.

“It could be. I mean, the two of you have been dating for over a year now. You love him and he loves you. Your parents love him. His parents love you.” Mara’s expression changes to happiness.

“But marriage?”

That is a huge step.

She rolls her eyes and gives me a smirk. “You own a vacation house with him. Well, all four of us own it together. You and Damien also live together. That’s pretty serious in relationship land.”

She does have a point.

“I guess so. I mean, we already act like a married couple. What about you and Seth? Do you see the two of you getting married?”

“Of course. We have talked about it several times. We want to elope. Fly somewhere tropical and have a small but intimate ceremony. He wants this to happen sometime later this summer.”

She acts like she didn’t just drop a bomb on me.

I can’t gather my thoughts and end up stuttering. “W-W-What? Really? Where’s your ring?”

Why did I not know about this?

“Well, technically, he still needs to ask me and buy a ring, but we are both on the same page.”

“That is amazing. I feel like we should be celebrating. Did he tell Damien? Maybe the two of them can go pick out rings together.”

Wouldn’t that just be perfect? Mara and I are like sisters anyway, but to be able to say we got engaged on the same night would be the cherry on top.

“You wouldn’t feel like I am stealing your spotlight?” Mara looks confused.

“Hell no! You’re my best friend. We would be able to celebrate the day together. And at least the guys stand a chance at remembering the date more easily.”
