Between Damien ignoring my texts and being too busy to talk after class to me rolling my ankle while dancing with Mara, I’m ready for the weekend.

I haven’t been able to give one hundred percent in yoga class, let alone walk on my hurt ankle for more than a few steps at a time.

The crutches have been hard to get used to, so I prefer to hobble on my own.

Mara helps me get comfortable on the couch in our suite with an ice pack strapped to my very swollen ankle and says, “He’s being an ass. Just let it go. He will come to his senses soon.”

She is referring to Damien’s comment on me needing to prioritize the things in my life. Of course, I was pissed and embarrassed that he called me out in front of the entire class.

I let out a long sigh. “It was completely unnecessary because it’s not like I did it on purpose. I actually enjoy yoga. If I wanted to miss a class, it would be the one before his. English.”

“I love that class.” Mara says in a sing-song voice.

“You love looking at the teacher.” I clarify.

She plops down on the couch next to me. “He is something, isn’t he?”

“Sure, if you are into the geeky looking teacher.” I tease, knowing she despises anything relating to geeks and nerds because of Jake.

“Geeky? He is way hotter than the typical geek.” She defends. “Plus, he wears jeans and a collared shirt. I’ve never seen him wear suspenders or slacks.”

I ignore her comment and continue to tease her. “He wears glasses.”

She interjects. “Sometimes! Otherwise, he wears contacts.”

Ignoring her protests, I say, “I can just picture him constantly adjusting his glasses as he stares at his computer screen while squinting.”

“Ugh! Please stop. You are going to ruin English for me!”

She tosses a throw pillow at me. It bounces off my face and hits my leg.

Her face instantly changes to a genuinely shocked expression. “Oh my God! I am so sorry.”

Chuckling, I say, “Calm down. It hit my leg, not my ankle. Not like I’d feel it anyway, with this huge ice pack strapped to me.”

I place the pillow between us and rest my arm on top.

She looks over at me and my ankle. “Are you all situated? Do you need anything else? Can you last a couple of hours without me?”

She’s acting weird and unlucky for her, I have all the time in the world to figure out what’s going on.

“What are you up to? What are you scheming?”

I look at her and watch as she averts her gaze to the ground, and her cheeks blush a deep shade of pink.

Realization dawns on me.

“Oh! I get it. You’ve got a date.”

Why else would she be so eager to leave?

“It’s not a date.” She huffs as I roll my eyes. “It’s not! It’s just two people meeting up to hang out together.”

“A hangout with kissing?”

I mean, we are in college and these things do happen.

Her eyes glaze over as she sighs lovingly.
