She looked concerned. “All that? I never knew it could be so serious. Maybe I should go to the hospital and get checked out.”

Funny. That’s what I was saying before.

I didn’t believe she had an issue. It had been several hours, and she appeared to be fine. But none of my schooling had been medical. “If you want to go, I’ll drive you.”

“Do you think I need to go?” she asked, looking up at me.

“I shouldn’t make this decision.”

Ovi huffed. “You had no problem voicing your opinions earlier. What changed?” she asked.

Oh, I am damned if I do and damned if I don’t. “Do you want my honest opinion?”

“Would you give me any other?”

I chuckled. “No.”

“Good. So, if it were you, what would you do?” she asked.

“I would go and lay down for a while. If anything changes even in the slightest, then call out for me and I’ll come right in.”

“Okay. I can do that. I’m going to lie down and get some rest.” She got up and so did I. “Where are you going?”

“I’m walking you to your room,” I said.

“You don’t need to do that,” she replied

“If something happens, I don’t want to start searching the house for which room is yours. Now, lead the way. Let’s get you tucked in bed.”

“The first room on the right is mine. Easy to find.”

“Good.” I took her hand in mine and led the way. I opened the door and said, “Sleep well, Ovi.”

“You do know that you can be overbearing, right?”

I smiled. “You may have already called me that before.”

“Forgetfulness. Is that a sign for me to be worried about?” she asked.

“I have a feeling you haven’t forgotten; you just enjoy reminding me,” I replied.

Ovi chucked and stepped into her bedroom. “Mark your calendar, Niko.”

“Why?”

“Because for the first time, I think you were right.” She was still giggling as she closed the door.

With Ovi getting some rest, it meant I could follow up with what had delayed me this morning. Finding Trye. Dean had hooked me up with Bennett Stone to see if he could locate him. He had no luck this morning. Hopefully that changed while I was busy with Ovi.

I went back into the living room and keeping my voice down, I dialed Bennett’s number.

“Hi, Niko. I hate to tell you this, but I haven’t been able to locate him yet. I did find out that he was supposed to meet someone and travel on their fishing boat, but he never arrived. The guy figured Trye had changed his mind and he left. I asked him to contact me if he hears from Trye,” Bennett stated.

That was concerning. “We need to find him.”

“From what Dean told me, this isn’t the first time he has gone MIA. Maybe he doesn’t want to be found. Can you tell me why the urgency?”

Not really. It made no sense. “His daughter was concerned about him leaving so soon after he returned.”
