One way to find out.I ran my hands up his bare chest and felt his muscles tense beneath my touch. Oh, this was so real, and I didn’t want it to stop. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I pulled myself closer into his embrace.

I felt Niko’s hands travel down my back and rest on my ass. He pulled me firmly up against him and I knew why. I could feel his erection even through our clothing. He wanted me as much as I wanted him.

I shuddered with excitement. This is so wrong. I should pull away and stop. He’s my boss, and tomorrow, we will regret this. Well, some of this, but still, it is wrong.

The internal battle had begun, but the need within me was winning. It’d been years since I’d been with a man. Even then, I never felt like this. It was almost an uncontrollable need.

His tongue traced my lips, and I moaned in his mouth. “Ovi...” he growled. Then suddenly, he pulled away. It was over as quickly as it had started.

My eyes fluttered open, and I was afraid of what I was going to see in his eyes. I was relieved to see him looking at me with desire. So why did he stop?

Because I work for him, and he knows this is wrong too.

His hands let go of my ass and moved up to rest on my hips, still holding me close to him. “I am not going to tell you that I’m sorry, because I’m not. I’ve been wanting to do that from the moment I caught you crawling out from under that desk.”

Not my finest moment, but definitely memorable.

“I’m not sorry either,” I admitted, looking him directly in the eyes.

He smiled. “Good. Because I haven’t forgotten you telling me to keep my hands off you. And I just touched you with my lips.”

His teasing tone didn’t go unnoticed.

“I may have changed my mind.”Just about the same time I saw you shirtless.

“It is a woman's prerogative,” he joked. “I needed to stop. Not because I wasn’t enjoying it, because damn, holding you felt so good. But if it went further, then stopping was going to be painful.”You mean it’s not painful now?He added, “I probably should go get my shirt so we can get back to work.”

That was like a bucket of ice water being dumped on me. Going from the most passionate kiss to talk of work was a killer.

“I think that is wise.”Because I’m not going to concentrate with you like this.

Before he left my side, he said, “Ovi, this isn’t over. I think we should discuss it further over dinner.”

“The doctor said I only needed twenty-four hours of observation,” I reminded him.

He reached out, tipped my chin up to him, and said, “Exactly. We’re not talking about work or your head. Tonight, we talk about this.” He bent down and kissed me passionately one more time. When he lifted his head, he walked out of the kitchen and I was left standing there, struggling to catch my breath.

I know I told him I would clean up the mess from breakfast, but I had more important things on my mind.Like how to deal with the mess we were creating.I didn’t want to be involved in a workplace affair. I also knew that how I was beginning to feel for him was going to become evident to others. Gossip was going to start, and then no one would hire me after. I needed to think about my reputation, and not just how damn good this all felt.

If this was all I could ever have, then I’d hold onto that moment forever.

CHAPTER 13

Niko

I hadn’t planned on kissing her. It just happened. Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t take it back. Ovi didn’t need to tell me, but I could see her mind was in overdrive. She was trying to come up with all the reasons why we should never allow this to happen again.

Funny, because I was thinking the total opposite. I had a list of why we should date and see where this led. Hopefully, over dinner, I could convince her to give us a chance.

Not something I ever pictured myself doing. Normally, I ran from such conversations. Women would be upset with me and said that I was closed off. They weren’t wrong. So, what happened?

Ovi happened.

She should be hands-off. I mean, I was her boss. Dean might have dated Tessa and it worked out for them, but normally, it was forbidden ground. But I didn’t care what anyone thought. Iwanted to get to know her and learn beyond what others had told me about her.

My phone rang and I looked at the caller ID. I’d been waiting for this call, just wish it wasn’t coming right before I picked Ovi up at her house. I needed this information.

“Hi Bennett. Have you learned anything new?” I asked.
