“You just got here. We just met. I’d like to show you around town. I’d like to take you out.”

“Take me out?”

“On a date. I want to take you out on a date.”

I can’t help but smile as I look at him. I’ve never really been on a date before.

“But how am I going to get home?”

“I’ll drive you.”

“Three hours?”

“It will be my pleasure.”

It’s tempting, but I don’t have a place to stay, or clothes, or a toothbrush, or deodorant which I desperately need right now.

“I know this sounds crazy,” he says, holding up his hand before I can say no. “But you came here looking for adventure, didn’t you?”

“I parachuted, got attacked by wolves, and got saved by a burly mountain man,” I say with a laugh. “I definitely got more adventure than I bargained for.”

“But do you feel fulfilled yet?” he asks with those piercing blue eyes that feel like they’re gazing into my soul. “Do you feel satisfied?”

He’s got me there. I got a little thrill today, but I know I’ll be just as bummed when I get home.

“There’s a beautiful lodge in town,” he says when I don’t answer. “We’ll get you the best room they have. My treat.”

I raise my eyebrow as I watch him. Is this guy serious?

“We’ll stop in town and get you whatever you need for the night,” he continues. “Shampoo, clothes, snacks—all my treat.”

“You don’t have to pay…”

“I want to,” he says in a firm voice. “I insist, Kylee.”

This man is all burst in and take charge. I like that. I’m beginning to crush hard on him.

And I’m tempted to say yes. Very tempted.

“And tonight,” he says in that deep sexy voice. “I’ll take you on the best date of your life. What do you say?”

I turn back to Otter as I think about it. I want to say yes. I really do…

But I just met this guy. I hardly know anything about him. Would it be crazy to say yes? Would it be crazier to say no?

“Maybe we should continue walking back,” I say now that Otter has had enough to drink. Creek water is pouring off her snout as she looks around the forest. “I don’t want Nerf to worry.”

Although, I doubt my cousin is worried at all. He has leaped off of cliffs with nothing but a wingsuit on. He is incapable of worrying about anything.

“Alright,” Aiden says as he gives me a smoldering look, “but when we get there, I want your answer.”

“Okay,” I say in a flirty tone as I walk backward, bouncing up on my toes. “I still haven’t decided, so you better do your best to woo me on the hike down, Mr. Hughes.”

He gives me a sultry grin as he grabs Otter’s reins and follows me.

“I’ll do my best,” he says in a deep growly voice.

He’s already halfway there.
