“Totally.” I nodded as Michelle looked at me for approval. “I’m serious. My mind is racing from tonight, and I just need time to mindlessly mop the floor.”

“Have fun with that,” Perry said, laughing as he untied his apron. “I’ll see you on Saturday. I have tomorrow off.” Perry untied his apron and gave a quick wave goodbye as Michelle wiped down the bar. “Usually, we have three bartenders on duty, but Carly called in sick tonight. You should have two bartenders on the floor tomorrow, and I can always step in if things get hectic. I have you scheduled for Sunday off.”

“Oh, I can work on Sunday,” I offered.

Michelle smiled and shook her head. “Hunter specifically said it was a day off for you.”

“Okay. Well, the boss has spoken.”

Michelle chuckled, holding the rag. “Yes, he has. On that note, I think I’m going to scramble home and hug my pug for the rest of the night.”

I smiled, walking toward the storage closet to grab the broom. “Sounds like perfection.”

“Hunter’s still around if you need him. Last I saw, he was in the office.”

“Okay. Thanks again. It was wonderful meeting you.”

Michelle nodded and wandered through the kitchen to the back door while I took out all the supplies. I filled the bucket with soap and water for when it was time for me to mop, smelling the strong scent of pine.

I walked over to the stereo and found a Christmas station as I started sweeping the bar area first. It wasn’t long before I was dancing with my broom, belting out some Bing Crosby, when I nearly bumped into Hunter.

My cheeks blushed, and I looked into his brilliant blue eyes. “How long have you been standing there?”

“Long enough to have had my night made.”

I chuckled, rolling my eyes. “I’m starting to get the distinct feeling that you just like watching me embarrass myself.”

Hunter chuckled, and that low rumble of a laugh he had tickled all parts of me, which made me look away.

I didn’t want him to think that I had a crush on him.

Or that I couldn’t stop wondering what it would be like to kiss him.

“You finish sweeping that side,” —he pointed at the large seating area— “and I’ll start mopping over here so we can go home sooner.”

My brows knitted together as I leaned against my broom. “You don’t have to stay. I volunteered to do this. It’s my therapy.”

“You don’t strike me as someone who needs therapy.”

“Ha, little do you know.” I winked at him and felt my insides turn into a sloppy mess of emotions. This was where most people could probably confess their innermost secrets and feel much better about themselves and life.

But I wasn’t one of those.

“Did seeing me naked in the towel mess with you that much?” he teased.

“You wish.” I chuckled, lifting all the chairs onto the tables.

“Maybe I do.”

“You’re impossible.”

Hunter squeezed the mop and followed my steps as I started sweeping.

Before I knew it, we’d covered the entire bar, and he was already rolling the bucket away to dump it out.

We made a good team.

I shoved everything back into the supply closet as he rolled the empty bucket toward me.
