She smiled. “Nope. You hadn’t.”

I slowly made my way over to Daisy. With each step closer, my body longed for something it shouldn’t.

Daisy looked up into my eyes, and I put my hands on each of her shoulders. “We come from very different worlds. You like penthouses. I like small houses.”

“You like provocative names for vehicles, while I like complicated pet names.”

She chuckled. “I pretend like you’re not obnoxiously good-looking.”

“While I pretend that my heart doesn’t stop every time that I see you.”

She rested her hands on my chest, keeping her gaze on mine. “What does this mean?”

I smiled and shook my head. “I don’t know, but we can’t let the Sunshine Breakfast Club get wind of this, or they’ll take complete credit.”

Daisy chuckled. “It will completely go to Millie’s head.”

“We’ll take it slow.”

Her gaze dropped to my lips.

“How slow?” she asked, barely above a whisper.

“Extremely.”

Daisy nodded. “You do live in Madison.”

“And you live in Buttercup Lake.”

Without thinking, I leaned down and kissed her, tasting the maple syrup on her lips. She let out a little moan of approval as she leaned into me.

Her body fit perfectly in the harbor of mine, and the attraction only intensified.

Just when her lips parted and I thought I might explode, the doorbell rang.

Daisy stepped back with a dopey grin on her face while the chemicals swished around my bloodstream. I didn’t want that kiss to end.

I wanted so much more.

The doorbell rang again, and Daisy shrugged. “Let’s hope that’s not Brielle.”

Laughing, I shook my head as I made my way to the door.

I swung it open to see my parents standing in the hallway with their suitcases.

“The hotel screwed up our reservation,” my Dad explained.

My mom’s eyes narrowed on mine. “Since when did you start wearing hot pink lipstick?”

I traced my mouth with my fingers and wiped off the lipstick with a laugh as my mom craned her neck around me to see Daisy, and I knew this weekend just took a sudden turn.

Chapter Eleven

Daisy

The lips did not disappoint, and it took all my focus to stay upright and decent. My world spun into an incredible web of confusion as I reconciled the kiss with his parents showing up.

And my lipstick!
