“Daisy, developing love isn’t only about the good times. There will be difficulties and hardships ahead. That’s life, but I promise you, it gets easier when you have someone to share it with. I saw that between my parents.”
And that’s when I realized what I’d said.
Love.
She cupped her hand around my neck and nodded. “I know love is possible with you, Hunter. That’s what scares me. I want to be able to love you fiercely without holding back.” She flashed a crooked smile. “And this is my first step.” She glanced around the living room and grinned. “Now, take me upstairs. There are too many windows.”

Daisy
I settled into his embrace while a waterfall of emotions washed over me. He was like a powerful current sweeping me up in a collision of emotions, but I couldn’t shake the worry of losing him.
That had always been my worry about Hunter Knox. He was good-looking, confident, successful, and sure of things. But I wasn’t sure of much. I only knew how badly it hurt to lose the people I loved. Maybe all those times I'd dreamed about kissing Hunter had been my way of keeping the walls up because I didn’t dare to dream of something more with him.
To have him lift the curtains to see my true self, not the one I always showed to everyone else.
But in his strong and protective arms, he felt like the safest place in the world.
This intimate space.
His bedroom.
Everything felt more profound, more real.
My mind was trapped in a torrent of raw emotions and spiraling thoughts. I’d fallen for him like the winter storm outside. The swift, unexpected, and overwhelming sensations crashed into me and made his embrace even more of a sanctuary.
But I worried that it was merely the magic of the holidays weaving this spell around us.
Hunter ran his arms around my waist, and his eyes connected with mine, sending a jolt of electricity clear to my toes. There was something so raw and demanding about the way he looked at me. I giggled, which made a smile roll onto his lips.
“I know it’s been a while for me, but am I that comical?” he teased, smoothing his hands along my hair.
I shook my head, smiling. “Not at all. I’m just suddenly swallowed up by holiday metaphors. Everything just feels so… special.”
We stood at the foot of his bed.
I couldn't help but think about how hard I'd fallen for him. The connection we shared was unexpected, powerful, and all-consuming. Every moment with him seemed to deepen our relationship, and the thought of surrendering my heart, soul, and body to him was exhilarating and scary.
Because there was no going back.

I dipped my hand into his jeans, feeling down the treasure trail until I wrapped my fingers around him.
His breath hitched against my lips as I gripped him firmly and unzipped his jeans with my other hand.
“Daisy,” he whispered between kisses as he lifted me onto the bed, my hands still feeling him in my grip.
He moved his fingers under my sweater, gliding along my skin and creating a flutter of butterflies. The desire to feel him inside me outweighed all common sense. Nothing else mattered in this magical moment, and the thought of giving myself to him without reservation filled me with a thrilling sensation. I wanted to experience everything with him.
