Reaching the front of the line, I handed my tickets to the sorority member collecting them, and then Ella slid her arm into mine.

“Hi, Ella,” the girl at the table said to my date—because fuck yeah, she’d said yes.

“Cam, you know Suzie, right? She’s the one who took over my position when I became president.”

I nodded. I’d seen her around at the other events, and at the last party at the frat house, but I honestly had paid little attention to her. Any time Ella was around, it was like my gaze was locked on her. Like there was no one else I’d rather look at.

“Right. Hi.” I gave a small smile to the mousy-brown-haired girl.

“Nice to see you again, Cameron.”

I nodded, saying our goodbyes as we headed into the ballroom.

There was a photographer at the entrance, capturing photos of the couples walking in like it was a prom, and I looked at the girl on my arm. “Shall we?”

“You want to take a photo together?”

I hummed in response. “Well, you are my date, aren’t you?”

“I think you’re my date, especially if we’re considering the fact that this is my event. You were just lucky enough to be invited.”

There was no stopping the grin on my face. “Whatever you say, Princess. Either way, tonight, you’re mine.” I pulled her towards the photographer, leaning in to speak directly into her ear. “And I want a photo so I can look back at how fucking beautiful you are later.”

Her cheeks turned an adorable shade of pink, somehow perfectly complimenting the lipstick she wore.

The photographer posed us, snapped a few photos, and then had us try a different pose.

“Happy now?” Ella said under her breath as we finished.

We walked towards the now-crowded dance floor, hundreds of college students dancing to whatever pop song was popular right now. I barely paid attention to any of it as Ella slipped her hand in mine.

“Yes.” I flashed my teeth. “Very.”

Not about the pictures, but because she was close enough, I could smell her perfume, those notes I’d decided were raspberry and peony and something else that was sweet, and all of it was soherI thought I’d never get sick of it.

“Well… What should we do next?”

“You tell me. It’s your event.” I looked down at her and watched as she bit her lip.

Ella was looking at all of it like she was seeing it for the first time, like she’d realized only just now that she could actuallyenjoy the event, and not just supervise to make sure everyone else was having a good time.

“They’ll be fine,” I whispered into her ear. “I think we can leave them alone to manage for a bit.”

“I know. It’s just…” She looked up at me through her lashes. “It’s been a while since I did this.”

I smirked, snaking an arm around her waist and squeezing her ass. “And what, exactly, my darling Princess, do you think this is?”

“Cam!” There was that pretty pink color again. “We’re surrounded by people.”

“So?”

“So…” She shook her head. “I just don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea.”

“If you think about it, it makes sense.”

“What?”

“The two presidents spending the evening together. And it’s not like they don’t know we’re not dating anyone.”Else, my brain mentally filled in.
