My arms rope around his middle, pressing my body as close to him as I can manage and take in his scent rather than the wind blasting past us. Miles doesn’t flinch as I do so. With ease, he releases the handlebars for a moment to pat my hands before they return.

He’s smoky with a hint of deep woods. It’s mouthwatering.

He smells like mine.

Where the hell did that come from?

I can’t push past the need coursing through me to relax into this ride. We’re pulling up in front of Missy’s house all too soon, and I’m no longer wrapped around Miles’s warmth.

Fumbling with the helmet, I finally get it off and probably look like a crazy woman as I put it on the seat he just vacated and find a large hand offering to help me off.

Hesitation has gone out the goddamn window from our ride back into Fetterman. I don’t wait for him to pull me off the bike. With my hand in his, I launch myself at him. My lips lock onto his like two powerful magnets as my body melts into him. Every hard ridge he possesses presses against my shorter, softer body.

His hair is soft against my fingers. His lips are tight and then soft before welcoming as his strong arms wrap around my waist, locking behind my back. This kiss is electrifying. His tongue gently explores my hurried and harsh one. I lose myself in everything I suddenly feel for this handsome stranger.

My drunken mind wants to see how far I can push this, but Miles has other ideas. With his hands now on my hips, he gently peels me off him. His lips are parted, his gaze heated as he looks down at me before offering me a much more wicked grin.

Once I’m stable, he reaches up and twirls a lock of my blond hair. “Give me your number.”

A thrill shoots through me at the fact he isn’t asking.

“Okay.” Reluctantly, I release my hold on him and dig my phone out of my purse. I have to unlock the screen for him before I shakily hand it over.

I watch the screen light up his face and blatantly stare. He’s extremely sexy. The sexiest I’ve ever seen. Whatever his mom did to make such a handsome man, I thank her. He’s truly a sight to behold, and here he is, kissing me and giving me his number.

I hear a phone ring, but it doesn’t break my focus on him. I want to take in everything I can just in case this isn’t really happening, and I’m sleeping in the back of Rylie’s truck with drool running down my cheek.

“Here you go, beautiful.” He hands me back my phone, but I’m not given a chance to say another word before Rylie steals me away.

I struggle to keep up with her as I turn and wave at Miles before he leaves.

Once we’re in the house, I’m barely out of my heels when my phone goes off.

Miles: Go out with me tomorrow.

Butterflies swarm the empty places in my belly that aren’t still filled up with alcohol. I may have moved on from my past in some aspects of my life, but I’ve held back in one.

I think it’s time to change. Not all men are like Grant, and this Miles seems like a sweet guy.

Chapter Three

Miles

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard in my life.

Seriously, I could pee.

“Will you shut the hell up?” Mason growls across the table from me.

“I don’t see why you’re having such an issue with me finding this funny.” I drain my coffee and slam the mug on the table.

“Because it isn’tfunny.” He’s snarling now.

“Dude, we just watched your—” In a flash, he pins me with his alpha glare. I feel the power of it as I silence myself and rethink my next words. “We just witnessed a woman break into her own damn truck and then hotwire the damn thing.” Normally, I would be swearing up a storm, but since my nephew, Mason’s five-year-old son Archer, sits next to his terrifying Dad while we enjoy a late breakfast, I’ll behave.

“And it isn’t funny.” Still with the snarls.

“It is.” I poke back because I have no sense of self-preservation.
