She smoothed the last of her tears from her face, looked at the strength in his and then reached out to wipe the wet streaking his cheeks.‘We’ll try again.’

‘We will.’He turned his head a fraction and kissed the palm of her hand.

She smiled at his certainty. And then one last, stupid, insecurity twisted inside.

‘What is it?’He saw; she realised now he saw everything.

She whispered, ‘It was all just a silly bet.I paid for you.You won that weekend from me.You never would have come after me if I hadn’t got pregnant.’

‘Cally,’ he whispered back.‘How did I find out you were pregnant?’

‘You sent Judith to the shop to spy on me.’

‘That’s right.Now why did I do that?’

She looked at him, read the answer in the glow of his eyes, the love in his smile and her last stupid insecurity was banished for ever. But she didn’t answer his question. She wanted to hear it anyway.

He grinned.‘I sent Judith after you because I needed information.Because I wanted you again but you’d just blown me off and I needed a way back in.You had me right from the start.Right from the moment I saw you sitting in the audience looking so superior and so damn sexy and I just wanted to shake the smug look off and have you sighing beneath me.You’re stunning, Cally. In every way.Simple as that.’

And suddenly it was simple—certainty sank so deliciously deep.‘And I took one look at you and wanted you to do anything and everything to me.Withme.’She looked at him in wonder.‘And then I found out there was so much more to you.’

‘So much more tous,’ he corrected. He stood, held his hand out to her.‘Come home, Cally.’

She looked up into his beautiful face, saw how much he had to offer and felt how the warmth of his love filled all the cold and lonely corners within her and nodded.‘I love you.’

She put her hand into his.He curled his fingers firmly round hers. She knew he’d never let go.And nor would she.

Epilogue

Blake walkedin hours before Cally expected. She saw his amused glance take in the mess.

‘How’s the new recipe going?’

‘I’m wearing most of it.’

He walked to where she stood, ran his finger down her cheek and grinned. Her beautiful ten-month-old son had decided a blow a raspberry at the exact moment the spoon was at his lips, splattering moosh right back in Cally’s face.

‘The child is a rogue,’ she muttered, utterly unable to mask her loving indulgence as she turned to scoop up the slop from the highchair.

Blake turned her back.

‘He’s ungrateful, for sure.It tastes pretty good.’He kissed some of the puree off her cheek.

‘What does?’she asked saucily.‘The food I made or the plate it’s on?’

He kissed her on the mouth then, a sweet kiss that hinted at sin.‘He’s napping?’

She grinned, leaned into his warm, hard body.‘Been down about ten minutes.’

‘So we can bank on at least another ten, right?’

‘Is that all you have before heading back to work?’

‘It’s our third wedding anniversary.I’m not going back to work.I wouldn’t have gone in at all if that meeting had been rescheduled properly.’

He took the cloth from her and sponged her shirt, a naughty smile appearing as he dampened the material covering her breasts.‘I think our little lord of the house needs a sister to straighten him out.’

‘He does.’She struggled to speak as, instead of helping clean her up, Blake started toying with her now tight nipples.‘Although it might be a brother.’
