“I could have easily looked into your records if I had to. Can I come in?”

“Why couldn’t this wait for tomorrow?” Even though I shouldn’t have, I stepped to the side as he walked inside to my living room. The last time he was here, he wore casual clothes and I expected to havefunwith him. He exuded confidence. This time he was in his suit. A bit disheveled from the day and helooked nervous. He readjusted his cuffs as he turned back to me. I tilted my head as I waited for him to speak.

“I wanted to apologize. I did strong arm Alana into making you my assistant. I had lots of reasons.”

“You don’t have to protect me, Cal. Now, he’ll do that to someone else.”

“Then, report him. It’s that simple.”

“I don’t want this to be a he said, she said. He’s gotten other girls fired. And nothing he has done to me has beenawful. It just makes me feel uncomfortable. I don’t think they can do anything about it yet.”

Cal steeled his jaw as his eyes drifted away from my face. His lips turned into a thin line. “Okay. Things will be different now. Kate won’t bother you.”

I laughed as I walked back to the kitchen. I grabbed the other egg roll. “You want it? Cause I am eating,” I said. He glanced at it and took it. I grabbed my Chinese food and sat at my counter. “Get a plate and I will share half of this. You owe me though. The leftovers were gonna be my lunch.”

Cal turned away from me and grabbed a plate from the cabinet. As he turned, I tilted my head and appreciated that marvelous ass again. He turned and I could feel my cheeks grow warm. I grabbed the quart container and started to dump it on his plate. He smirked as he sat beside me. He took off his jacket and laid it on the far end of the counter.

“I will pay for your lunch tomorrow. Remember what you said, I needed a girl like you. Now, I have you,” he said. He winked as he looked at me with his smile.

“So, what’s the plan now?”

“It’s a crazy idea. You know I have the other business. We’ve gotten by with temporary assistants. VAs and the such. No one permanent. The business is about to get bigger and we couldimprove. I want someone better, like you. You think you can handle things with the company and my other business?”

I tilted my head. “Are you saying I can’t multitask?” I sighed. “How though? That seems ridiculous.”

“My business partner wanted to control the whole thing for a while, but he’s complained lately that it’s too much. Even with contractors, temps, and extra help. I’m sure you are very multitalented,” he murmured. His eyes darkened as he looked at me. How would I work with him all day?

I bit my lip and nodded.

“Great. That’s another reason why you were ideal. Can I introduce you to my business partner? He is coming to town this weekend and I figured it would be a good time to meet him.”

“Why is he coming to town?” I asked as I grabbed another bite of food.

“He needed to talk about some things in person. Also I joked with him about all the beautiful ladies around here. He figured maybe he can find one himself. He’s been having a rough time lately. I think it’s because I haven’t done enough to help him with our little business.”

“I’m not on the menu,” I said.

His voice deepened as he said, “I wish you were on the menu again. You tasted divine the other day.”

I sucked in a deep breath, looking away as my cheeks were warming again. My pussy clenched as I remembered how he felt with his head between my thighs. I squeezed them. Cal’s warm breath was on the skin of my neck. “Were you a good girl today, Jordan?” he whispered. I rolled my lips inward before I blew out a jagged breath.

I turned back toward him with a forced smile plastered on my face. “Of course, I was good. I didn’t kill my boss today. Achievement earned.”

Cal leaned back and laughed. “Well, bring me a coffee tomorrow and try not to spit in it. You don’t have to get Kate’s or Jessica’s coffee anymore. Just mine. And whatever you want. I’m going to get cards in your name and you can start adding things on my account.”

I nodded.I guess I could suffer for a while.

He grabbed his empty plate and took it to the sink. “Thanks for dinner. I swear we will go to a nicer place this weekend.”

“Sure, sure. All those promises,” I said as I got up to walk to the trash can. I felt strong hands on my hips as he twisted me around. He pushed me against the fridge.

“I have all sorts of promises that I haven’t had a chance to show you yet,” he growled as he tilted his head toward mine. My heart raced. Heat spread in my core. My lips parted. We were so close. Kissing my bosshadto be wrong. The firm pressure of him holding me against the fridge was doing so much for me. The other day was just a hint of the wonderful things he could do in the bedroom to my body. I swallowed.

“I—”

A phone rang in the background. My eyes darted to the jacket on the bar. “Shit,” he said as he turned toward the jacket. His hands released me. I stood there for a moment, blinking and trying to get my head out of my panties. That shouldn’t have happened. I can’t let my guard down around him. He grabbed his jacket and pulled his phone out. “I gotta go. I will see you tomorrow. I want an americano with a splash of cream.” He turned toward the door and walked out of my apartment.

I sighed as I finished cleaning up from dinner. This guy was going to tempt me every damn day.
