“I was thinking I was successful but today at work I was reminded no. They expect the kid I used to be.”

“Are you though?”

“I don't know?” He said. “But I don't think they see that.”

“Well, now you just have to prove them wrong. If you can manage stuff as good as your foot massages are, then you are there,” I said. “The perfect manager.”

“Hmmm,” he murmured. He started to slip a hand under my pants, rubbing my calves.

“Oh god, that does feel good,” I moaned.

“I hope one day I can hear you say that in other ways,” he said huskily. I bit my lip and need blossomed in my core.

“You really cannot behave can you?” I said. I gently kicked his hand playfully.

“Not when I’m around a beautiful woman,” he said. He pulled his hands back and slid me closer to him. “I absolutely do want you.” He tilted his head forward and placed his lips against mine. It was brief and soft. He pulled back. I tried to suppress a smile as I turned to look back at the TV. I scooted myself into his arms. He squeezed me as we looked at the TV. I sighed happily. This was good. Everything will be good. I have this amazing guy interested in me. I am going to avoid the drama at work and I will thrive.

Chapter 5

Jordan

Iwalked into the office carrying six drinks. For some reason, Kate started adding Caleb’s order to the usual order. I walked to the back trying to avoid passersby. I put the bigger tray on my desk as I walked toward Caleb’s office. The door was ajar but no one was there. Good. I didn't want to meet him anyways. My pocket vibrated with a text but I ignored it as I put the coffee down. I grabbed another post-it note and wrote:

Have a great day!

I added a small smiley face at the bottom.

I rushed back to my office to pass the other coffees around. Once that was settled, I sat down. While my computer booted up, I took my phone out.

Cal

Were you a good girl today?

I bit my lip as I read the message. My belly did a flip. This guy.I sighed.

Me

Excuse me?

Cal

Did you get to work on time?

Me

I’m not always late!

Cal

Good girl.

There was a knock on the side of the doorjamb. The phone tumbled out of my hand onto my desk. I looked up and tried to calm down. I could feel my cheeks heating up. Alana was standing there. Her brown hair cascaded down her shoulders. Her smile widened as she watched me.

“I take it the not-date went good? Did you get laid?” she asked.

“No! It wasn't like that,” I said. “I mean, I am pretty sure that may happen soon. I guess he is trying to be a gentleman.”

“So, why were you blushing and acting like you were caught being bad just now?” Alana asked as she laughed.
