“Yes, sir. She—”

“She’s yours when you say your vows, until then she’s still mine,” Ward interrupted.

Bella grinned.

“We can agree to disagree on that, sir.” Blake wiped his mouth.

There was a second of silence, then Ward said, “Good. Keep fighting for her for the rest of your life.”

“Okay, testosterone valley, enough. Bye, Dad. See you next week,” Bella quipped and pushed the end button.

Blake placed his cup on the table and leaned down, placing a coffee tasting kiss on her lips.

“I hope this works,” Bella said as he stood.

“Let the lawyers do their jobs and let's focus on getting married.”

“Okay.”

A few hours later, they were in the Roberts, Halt, and Thornton offices fully briefing them. Her former team had been advised to hand everything over and while they weren’t pleased, Bill had said he understood.

“Randall is a powerful and influential man. My team and I would have loved the chance to do this, but I have to concede Roberts, Halt, and Thornton are the best of the best. I’ve told them they can call if they require any information.”

“Thanks, Bill,” Bella had offered. “My mom trusted you for many years, and I am so grateful for your help.”

Then the next day, they flew home to Philly and prepared to say I do.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

Blake stood near thefountain at the Cairnwood Estate, a nineteenth century castle in Philadelphia, and waited for his bride.

He was hoping for a sunset during their cocktail reception, but it didn’t matter.

Soon his beautiful bride would be walking down the aisle surrounded by gardens full of fresh spring flowers and the people they loved.

The engagement party might have been enormous, but their wedding was small and intimate.
