“That was two years ago. Until I met you... Anyway, delete that last comment. I have wasted valuable time because he broke my heart.”

Blake narrowed his eyes.

Delete that last comment?

Until you.

Holy hell. Bella hadn’t been with anyone since Cain until last weekend when they met.

Damn.

“That’s a big deal. I’m honored you came home with me.” He reached for her hand and squeezed. “That you let me have your body.”

They both stared at their hands as they lay linked on the cushion for a long moment. He wondered what she was thinking and whether she wished she was still with Cain.

The guy had broken her heart, clearly.

Now she had to find someone to marry to get her company back. She was embarrassed.

Blake saw it differently.

“You are brave. If not a little insane.” He smirked, and she shared a smile with him.

“I have to do this, Blake. I know it’s a lot to ask. I will understand if you say no. Truly. I just...well, I like you. And the share offer will be extremely abundant. Not that you need the money, but I thought as a businessman it might appeal to help you prop up InkWell.”

“Removing Randall won’t be easy,” he said. “If it's even possible. You will need board support.”

Blake wasn’t going to lie. It was tempting as hell. After meeting with Trevor and Tate today, they had drawn a blank on how to save InkWell.

Things were bleak.

But plowing money into it from Kennedy's shares wasn’t the answer either. He wanted a profitable company. He wanted it to thrive.

And any partnership between him and Bella would need to be rock solid and follow the law.

As in, no insider trading.

But there was a chance, that by doing this, they could knock this fucker off the Kennedy throne and changes could occur without his interference. Meanwhile, propping it up with some cash flow.

It was a longshot. But not that long.

There was something else.

The longer he sat here, the surer he was that he couldn’t watch Bella marry some guy who didn’t give a fuck about her.

Was he the right man?

Blake wasn’t sure.

But he knew two things: she belonged in his bed and around his cock, and he felt protective as hell about her.

That meant something.

“I know. Well, I don’t know. I have a lot to learn,” Bella said. “The marriage would only need to be in place for two years. Then you would be free to divorce me.”

He cringed.

Something about those words didn’t sit right with him. She wasn’t even married yet, and she was discussing divorce.
