Istill had way too many unanswered questions.

Crow insisted that I ride with him on the back of his bike, and with every mile on the road, I thought of something else to ask him. It was weird to ride with my brother instead of Talon. It felt off. Almost wrong.

I kept glancing behind me, trying to see Talon, but it was impossible with the helmet. Raven blocked him any way. Talon stayed in the last position, and I wondered what he would do when we arrived at our next destination. No one thought to mention where that would be or what I should expect. I was a detail-oriented girl. It bugged me.

After an hour and a half on the road, Crow took an exit. We rumbled through a nothing of a town with a sign that read Tonopah. The only thing that caught my attention was the creepy clown motel. You couldn’t pay me enough to stay there.

I wasn’t a fan of clowns.

On the outskirts of Tonopah, we approached a gated piece of land. When Crow pulled up, the prospect opened the gate and ushered us inside. We parked, and I stood, relieved to have my ass off that seat. My butt was sore, and I had to pee.

I unbuckled the helmet, lifted it over my head, and handed it to Crow. I wasn’t sure what to call him. He never said. I figured if other bikers were around, I should use Crow. When we talked alone, I would use Austin.

I shook out my hair and turned, taking in the massive compound spread across the desert. A sign read The Crossroads on a door next to a covered patio with picnic tables. Another sign read Reaper’s Custom Rides & Repairs above open bays where I could see men working on cars and motorcycles.

“Where are we?”

“The home of the Royal Bastards MC. The Tonopah, NV Chapter,” Crow answered. “Come on. We’re not sticking around out here.”

“Good,” Talon added.

He slipped an arm around my waist, and I could swear a hostile vibe radiated from him.

“You okay?”

He lowered his head close to my ear. “Yeah. Stay close to me.”

I tugged on my bottom lip with my teeth. His response made me feel anxious. “Should I be worried?”

“No, beautiful. I just don’t want to have to kick anyone’s ass tonight.”

“Why would you need to do that?”

He growled as we entered, not bothering to answer, and I felt eyes on all of us, especially me. Talon’s grip tightened.

“Crow!” A deep voice boomed in greeting. “How the fuck are you, brother?”

Crow laughed, giving the big biker who approached him a slap on the back as they hugged. “I’ll be better when I get my sister to The Roost.”

The biker’s eyes widened. “Your sister?” His gaze shot to me. “She sure looks like a Holmes.”

Crow slid an arm around my shoulders and pulled me away from Talon. “Gail, meet Grim. He’s the president of this rowdy bunch of bastards.”

The room erupted in laughter and a few obscene jokes.

“Hi, Grim.”

“Honey, this tall, crazy asshole and I go way back.” Grim slightly slurred his words.

I couldn’t hold back a smile. “I see.”

He flung out an arm. “This is your home away from home. Eat, sleep, fuck, drink. Welcome to The Crossroads.”

“Where every decision is probably a bad one,” Crow joked.

Grim chuckled, leading Crow toward the bar.

I laughed as my brother stumbled into him. I’d never been in a biker club or a bar like this, and I spun in a slow circle, taking it all in, from the pool tables to the dark décor to the neon lights boasting the beers on tap. One sign made me giggle. A naked woman rode a reaper on a bike.
