“This is a deed. A legal document of ownership for a specific piece of land.”

“Huh. I wonder if that’s the reason Rook visited his lawyer the day he died. He sent our birth certificates and other legal documents, but not this. What property is it?”

“I think it belongs to Undertaker.”

Crow reached for it, and I passed the deed into his hand. He stared at the document and laughed. “Holy shit. Undertaker doesn’t own his fucking land. Rook paid the property taxes and stole it from him.”

“That sounds dangerous.”

“It is. No wonder we’ve been dealing with all this shit since Rook’s death.”

“I guess you need to have church now, huh?”

“You’re a quick learner, Gail. Yep. Let’s go.”

I had a bad feeling about this.

If Undertaker could hold a grudge this long about his son, he would never give up the control of his land to the Devil’s Murder.

Chapter 15

Crow called church into session, and before he could open up the floor or discuss what he had on his mind, I needed to tell him about Undertaker and the shit that went down in that underground prison.

“Undertaker gave me an ultimatum.”

Crow’s brows bunched together. “What kind of ultimatum?”

“He said we had something that belonged to him and had one week to give it back.”

Crow laughed. “Fucking serious?”

“Yeah. Right after he twisted Luke Grime’s neck and killed the fucker.”

Raven whistled low next to me. “Fuck.”

“It saved me the job of doing it,” I snarled. “He fucking burned me with a fucking blow torch.”

Crow slapped a palm on the table. “And kept you chained like a dog for a motherfucking week. He’ll get what’s coming to him.”

“For Rook, too,” Raven growled.

Fists pounded the table in agreement.

Crow placed a piece of paper down and slid it toward the middle. “This is what he wants. The deed to his land.”

“How the fuck did we get that?” I asked.

“Rook,” Carrion answered from the corner of the room.

“He’s right,” Crow confirmed. “Rook paid the property taxes. Undertaker was behind thousands but not near what the land was worth. He lost millions in the transaction.”

“Not to mention the ground where his clubhouse sits,” Raven added.

“He’s not getting it back,” Crow announced. “I don’t give a fuck how much he threatens us. We hold down this place andlock it tight. Keep watch over your families and women. He’ll fight dirty.”

“He always has,” Hawk pointed out.

“So we’ll be ready. He says he’s giving us a week. We use that week to prepare.”
