She nodded. “That’s good. I thought I was undatable.”
“You were. I already claimed you.” My lips brushed hers, and I backed away. “There’s more.”

I pulled her into my embrace, claiming her mouth again in slow, deep, intoxicating kisses. “You know shit is going to go down with the club, right?”

“And there might be things we say, do, or ask that won’t make sense to you.”
“Okay. Are you asking if I’ll behave?” She teased me, but this was serious.
“Baby, I need you to understand me.”
Her expression betrayed a quick flash of fear. “I do. Whatever you need from me, or whatever Crow does, I’ll do it.”
Relieved, I nodded. “Good. That’s all I need to know, Gail.”
“Are you going to tell me what that means?”
“I can’t yet. Will you trust me?”
“With my life,” she responded. No hesitation.
“This is why you’re so fucking perfect.”
“Because I can behave like an adult?”
“No, because you’re fucking sassy and strong, and you don’t take shit from anyone, even me.”
Her soft laughter warmed my heart.
I nuzzled her neck, so fucking thankful she was here. I didn’t know what the fuck I would do if I lost her.
Whatever pact I had to make, or whatever the sacrifice, I would do it to keep Gail alive.
I pushed her back against the sheets, needing to be inside her after all the shit today. I had to feel her, to know she was safe and that nothing would take her from me.
