My shoulders relaxed slightly.

He didn’t expect everything to work itself out magically, either.

That was good.

Really good.

“Do you want to share a bed?” I bit my lip, worried I shouldn’t have asked the question. “It’s okay if you don’t. I know we’re not really there yet. The mate bond is just to protect me from Evan, and to make a statement. You don’t even really want it, and I don’t?—”

He stepped up in front of me, shutting me up with his hands on my face. “I want it, Miles. All of it. Everything you could imagine, and more.”

My throat swelled, and I nodded.

I wasn’t sure how to respond to that.

“So do I,”seemed too blunt, and maybe not quite honest since I wasn’t sure exactly what he wanted.

“I love you,”seemed way too soon, and he undoubtedly didn’t feel the same way. I wasn’t entirely sure whether that was true, either.

“Cool,”definitely wasn’t the proper response.

So I went with a nod.

“What do you want?” Zander asked.

It was a dangerous question.

A very dangerous question.

One that could lead to me spilling too much of my heart, and spilling it too soon.

“Your heart,”was too cheesy. Way too cheesy. And not entirely true, on top of that. I did want him to love me, but… well, maybe it was true.

“Your body,”was too shallow. Way too shallow. I was confident that one was entirely true, at least.

“You,”was the honest answer, the one that encompassed everything I thought and felt.

But that was the dangerous one.

So instead, I said, “To share a bed.”

His lips brushed mine. “Good. It’s been too long since I’ve tasted you.”

My entire body flushed with his words. We both knew he wasn’t talking about tasting my mouth.

“There are too many people around,” I whispered.

“You can be quiet.” His grin was wicked, and dammit, it turned me on.

“I don’t know,” I warned, as he released my face and towed me into our room.

As promised, it was a huge bedroom, with a massive bed right in the middle of it. “Why does Bash’s cabin have so manybedrooms, if he doesn’t like to socialize?” I asked Zander, as he closed and locked the door behind us.

“He doesn’t, but he’s a family man. Four bedrooms is just enough for the three of us and our parents.” Zander caught my hand and led me to the bed. “This room’s always mine. No tub, unfortunately.”

I gave him a dramatic sigh, and he grinned at me, lifting my hand to his lips and kissing the back of it. “I have an idea. A terrible, terrible idea. Are you in?”

“When you put it like that, no.”
