Once you hit forty, all these aches and pains start appearing out of nowhere.

As soon as I pull my bike into the garage, we have to go find Runes and give him the details about what happened.

He has to know the people who went after the girls knew about the club.

Sure, we have plenty of enemies, but I can only think about one right now—the Culebra cartel.

There's no doubt in my mind they're the ones behind this.

Starla tightens her grip around my waist as we take a sharp turn, finally exiting the highway.

I push back my worries and serious thoughts for the moment, appreciating the memories we're making right now.

She's on the back of my bike, her arms wrapped around me, her chin resting on my shoulder.

This is where she's always belonged.

Our Bluetooth headsets have allowed us to chat over the course of the ride. I linked them in our helmets before we left for Jacksonville.

As we grow closer to the clubhouse, I tell her something I've been thinking about. "When we get back to the club, go get your stuff and put it in my room."

There's a brief moment of surprise before she finally ends up responding, "What?"

"You heard me. If we're doin' this, we're doin' it right. Get your shit and put it in my room, baby girl."

She's quiet for a second and finally responds with a heartfelt laugh, "Whatever you say, boss."

The rest of our ride is quiet and we pull up to the clubhouse. As we grow closer to the closed garage door, I tap on the button attached to my bike.

The button triggers it to open and we ride underneath it as soon as we have enough room to clear it.

I pull my bike in my normal spot, turn off my engine and kick up my kickstand. Starla gets off the bike first and I follow suit.

As she takes her helmet off I can't help but admire her beauty. Her hair cascades down past her shoulders in effortless waves, her skin radiating with a golden glow, as if she's basking in the warm sunset.

Gods, I am one lucky man.

I carefully take off my helmet and reach for Starla's, hanging it on the hook next to mine.

All of us in the club have a designated spot for our helmets, and there's one spot reserved next to us for our women.

Anyone else in the club has an area off to the right where they put their helmets. That's where Starla would usually put hers. Only, not this time, and not ever again.

I'm putting her helmet next to mine because it's exactly where it goes.

Once I finish putting her helmet up, I turn and Starla has her head cocked slightly, "I know we're together, but I didn't expect that."

A smirk spreads across my lips, "You should really learn to expect the unexpected with me."

"Should I?" Starla asks, raising a brow as I break the distance between us.

With a nod and smile I reply, "Yes, you should," I pause, my eyes lingering on her lips before continuing. "I need to go talk to Runes, and you know what you need to do."

Starla grins back at me "Yes, I do. After I'm done I'm going to check and see what the progress is like in Bubba's. It'll be open before we know it and there's still so much to do."

"Yeah, you're right. I'll come find you after I'm done,"

"Sounds good," she replies.
