Remy is back with us as both him and Sloan stand directly in my path, making a safe distance between me and Lucas.

Lucas glances at everyone at our table and then quickly goes for the inside of his tailored dark gray suit.

Remy and Sloan stiffen with their hands instantly going behind their backs. I wonder if they have a weapon in the back of their tight ass molding jeans. The other guards that are supposed to be protecting me move forward, getting ready in case something bad happens, from whatever Lucas pulls out of his jacket.

The man laughs, not affected one bit as he sets down a business card.

“Your father and I need to talk right away. He’s been avoiding me.” Cal’s father gives me a stern look like it’s my fault. I really want to spit out, maybe you should keep calling him or send roses. He obviously doesn’t want to talk to him.

Sloan takes hold of the card, quickly glancing at it, then slightly creasing it in his fisted hand as he puts it in his pocket and gives the ass a demeaning noticeable nod.

“Did your armored car break down?” It slips out, and I can’t help it. I can’t stand the full reign of his stare. It’s like he’s trying to dig deep into my soul and find out my family’s history, not good.

Lucas glowers at me. I know he heard what I said but he turns around as his guards quickly surround him, as he heads over to Cal.

Cal Santorin stands up as his dad motioned for him to walk out with him. The young heir puts his head down in annoyance while his dad puts his hand on the back of his neck, leaning down to talk slightly in his ear as they walk out. I can tell how hard Lucas is squeezing the back of his neck, making him uncomfortable as Cal fisted his hands turning his knuckles white. He hates his father.

“Life was so boring before you came here,” Joss states with a big smile on her face. The rest of my friends agree as other students start jumping up and grabbing their shit.

We all look at our watches, noticing we don’t have much time, less than five minutes to make it to class.

Eden and I both smile at each other. I know my girl is thinking the exact same thing as I am. We get to see these guards run, we could probably get to our class in less than two minutes walking fast but it’s funnier this way. Especially if we can make it look like they’re running after us.

Yep, the coffee and the food has definitely helped our mood, making us feel almost normal again.

Chapter

Twenty-Three

Taylor

The walk to class was uneventful, even with the multitude of guards that I had practically holding my hand making sure I got there safe. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I was shocked that I don’t have Remy or Sloan in here with me.

On a much brighter note, Eden gratefully has the class with me as we both find our seats and sit down, beaten and quite hung over.

“We really need to quit drinking,” I whisper to Eden as she gives me a nod. “I understand that, that’s all we should be doing in college but God I feel like shit.” Even though this might be the only thing that helps me get through my life exploding upon impact.

I become a pro at ignoring a lot of the glances, whispers and downright degrading comments from other students. I realize that they’re mainly curious. If you don’t understand the situation that’s going on around you, you’re either going to do everything you can to understand it or you’re going to valiantly go against it.

Unfortunately a lot of our generation hasn’t matured above all the shit, so they really don’t know what to do with all their regressed feelings toward my private life.

When the football players and the cheerleaders are around, let’s just say the most popular groups are around me, is when they talk the most shit. My life would be very quiet if those people didn’t want to fuck with it all the time, the other students wouldn’t care as much.

You have to follow the pack, because if you don’t, you’ll be an outcast like everybody else. And which way is easier to get through a school that’s rated the best. It’s almost impossible just to stick your nose in a book and keep your existence to a minimum in this school.

“Okay class,” Mr. Park raises his voice even though it’s mainly quiet in here, he’s doing it to wake up some of the students that are passed out. Damn alcoholics, I giggle thinking to myself.

“Let’s break off into groups and go over the information that we just learned, starting with your financial discovery.”

I smile at Eden and she gives me a nod in response. I guess we’re partners and we don’t have to move anymore.

“Did you pay attention?” Eden whispers in my ear as I shake my head no. “Let’s just pretend like we know what we’re doing then.” I nod, what else can we do, we both need a nap.

For the next ten minutes we listen to groups chatter, laugh and efficiently do the work that they’re supposed to be doing. After enough time eavesdropping, we got the hang of it and started working on our own stuff quickly catching up.

The chattering comes to a dead stop, causing Eden and me to look around the room and wonder, leaving our unfinished work unattended. I swear you could hear a pin drop in the damn room. The unease is overwhelming as Eden and I pop our eyes up to the front of the class.

Two very gorgeous blonde girls that look freaking identical walk into the room. Both of them are extremely athletic and fit. Both of them wearing huge smiles as they happily bob their energetic and sober asses in the door. It looks like they’re hopping with excitement.
