The thought had my length thickening.

He tipped his chin up at me, a sly edge to his smile. “Hey, Seb.”

I grunted, staying in the doorway. My hands twitched, desperate to touch him. I curled them into fists, willing myself to behave.

Matty’s smile widened at my response. He knew who was going to win in this game of cat and mouse. We both did. But I needed to pretend I had some restraint. That I could possibly be the better person that Matty believed me to be.

His hand idly stirred the water. “Want to join me?”

Yes.

“I thought you needed help.”

Matty bit his lip, mock innocence radiating from him. “Oh, I forgot my towel. Can you pass it to me?”

I eyed the stack of towels less than three feet away from him and my lips twitched. “You couldn’t stand up and grab it?”

To his credit, Matty blushed. He didn’t back down though. “With the oils I’ve used? That’s practically asking for a fall. I can’t risk breaking my hand again, not with all the trouble Rami went through to heal it.”

I recalled the big angel kneeling for my sunshine. The teasing way he’d smiled at him.

That was who Matty deserved. Rami could give Matty everything I couldn’t.

The thought was enough to have me grabbing a towel and holding it out to Matty.

He took it from me with a coy look, letting it drop to the floor on top of his book. “Hmm. I think I might soak for a bit longer.”

I nodded curtly. I needed to leave.

For some reason, my legs weren’t moving.

“Why don’t you join me?” Matty asked again, his voice trembling slightly. “There’s plenty of room for both of us.”

No. I can’t do that.

My fingers started unbuttoning my shirt.

I really need to leave.

My trousers hit the floor.

This is a terrible idea.

I climbed over the side of the bath, the water hot against my cold skin.

It won’t end well.

Matty slid back against me, slotting between my thighs and resting against my chest.

The contented sigh he gave was like a gag on my racing thoughts. Matty was in my arms. He was safe. Happy.

Right now, that was enough.

Giving in, I wrapped my arms around him, my hands idly exploring his chest. There was nothing overtly sexual in my touch as I mapped out every line and crease of him.

Matty didn’t seem keen to rush this to its inevitable conclusion either. He just let me hold him, like he knew our time was limited as well. That all too soon this would end.

Then he asked a question, and I realised he had other intentions.
