“Wow,” he leaned back in his chair, regarding her.

“Wow, what?”

“You made that sound – I don’t know – beautiful?”

Georgie smiled. “I guess I see it that way, and right now, you need to get your beautiful machine changed so we can get going. We’ve got a good two hours here, and by then my stomach’s going to be chewing on my backbone, so I don’t want to waste any time.”

“Yes, ma’am,” he agreed and turned his chair in the direction of the changing area on the other side of the room, in the back corner.

“Speaking of which,” she added, hoping she wasn’t overstepping. “Would you like to share a meal?”

“Absolutely,” he glanced back at her. “But where?”

“Here. I’ll order something and have it delivered. What do you want?”

“Let me think on that.”

“Sure.”

She turned her attention to her iPad, which sat on what looked like a filing cabinet on wheels with a desktop. This was her unit. Each PT had one. Right now, everything in her unit was about Riggs Walker. He was her only patient.

That was new for her. Normally she’d have a dozen or more patients in a month. But Riggs was getting premier status. She didn’t blame the people at BioNow. The Walker family was, after all, part of the Presidential family. And Naomie had offered them a deal too tempting to turn down. If she gave them the patent on the new IMES, they stood to make billions. It was an incredible opportunity. With that amount of capital, they could do what they wanted the most.

Help people. With billions coming in from the patent, they could afford to put more into research, and could spend more time with each case, giving each patient what you might call premier treatment, but what she thought of as giving them their life back.

“Hey!”

Riggs voice snapped her back to attention. “Yeah?”

“I need some help in here.”

Georgie never considered what kind of help. She just hurried across the room and took hold of the curtain to enter.

Mother of God.

She couldn’t move. She couldn’t look away. Riggs leaned against the wall, standing on one foot. Naked. The workout shorts lay on the floor, and his clothes were tangled around his foot.

“I know. Why don’t I just step out of them, right?”

Georgie was aware of his voice, but her focus was being held captive by the sight before her. Riggs was, without a doubt, one of the sexiest men she’d ever seen.

The jest didn’t quite hit the mark, not in tone or expression. If anything, it revealed a man trying to cover up his frustration. And anger. He was tired of being handicapped, tired of not being able to do things he once could. He missed his foot.

Riggs’ eyes transmitted his pain. Eyes that seemed to see what lay beneath the artifice and disguise. His was the face of a warrior—strong cheekbones and jaw, a straight nose, and lips full enough to be inviting, but not enough to diminish the overall masculinity of his face.

If someone had held a gun to her head, it wouldn’t have stopped her from staring. Nor would it have stopped the way her body and mind reacted to him. It was out of her control. All her physical systems were immediately activated.

Her skin grew warm, and her breath became a bit quicker and shallow. Every erogenous zone on her body tightened in anticipation. She bit back a gasp as it hit, that rush of blood, muscles pulsing automatically, preparing her body.

For crying out loud. She felt like a female creature in heat. Only better, because when his gaze locked with hers, she experienced a definite moment of weakness, as if her body had suddenly gone pliant.

Good God.If she touched herself, she’d probably orgasm.

What. The. Hell.

She understood attraction and passion, but this was like something visceral, a female sensing the male with the specific genetics to draw her to him. Her match. Everything about him was a lure. His looks, his smell, the sound of his voice, and the way his blue eyes seem to darken as their gazes met.

The moment didn’t simply provide evidence of her attraction to Riggs. It proved she wasn’t in love with Josh. If she were, she wouldn’t be standing here, having a waking wet dream about Riggs Walker and what he’d feel like inside her.
