“Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

She let out a scream that had him covering his ears and he thought for sure would have security coming to the room.

“You got tickets?”

“I did,” he said. “Don’t ask me how it happened. I didn’t.”

He just knew that he’d be bringing back some crazy dessert that Eli wanted that he had to pick up tomorrow and store until his flight back on Sunday morning.

Laine could help him place the order tomorrow and have it delivered. It was the least he could do. That and bring back a bunch more for everyone else that had helped him out in the past week.

“Then how did you get them if you don’t know?” she asked. “Unzip me.”

She turned her back and he unzipped her dress, letting it fall to the floor in a heap where she kicked it out of the way.

“I called in a favor. They will be waiting for us when we get there. We’ve got a bit of time if you want to do something else.”

She was in her black lace bra and panties with her heels and his body had other ideas.

“Shower,” she said. “I need to fix my hair as you said.”

She walked right by him and into the bathroom and shut the door in his face to her laughter.

Yeah, this was the woman he loved and found that if she asked him to move away from everything he’d ever known, he’d do it in a heartbeat.

Luckily, she’d never ask him because she just understood him so well.

YOUR FAVORITE MAN

“Congratulations, Delaney,” Laine said, giving Carson’s sister-in-law a hug. “Twins. Are you nervous? Excited? Scared?”

Ava was laughing when Laine asked those questions, as she was almost hopping in place.

Carson had told her weeks ago Delaney was pregnant, but they were keeping it quiet. Then a few days ago Delaney had an ultrasound to show double the trouble.

“All of the above,” Delaney said. “Hudson is over the moon, but he’s not carrying these two.”

Ava ran her hand along Delaney’s arm. “It’s going to be fine. You’re in good hands. I’m so excited to be an aunt.”

Laine wanted to say she was too, but she had no formal ties to this family other than she was in love with Carson.

“What I’m looking forward to is painting something tonight. No wine for me.”

“I’ve got sparkling apple juice for you,” Laine said. “And thank you for getting here early so I could talk to you before anyone else showed up.”

“Not a problem,” Delaney said. “Lacy should be here soon.”

They turned and saw Carson’s mother walking in the door and then running to Delaney. She knew it was the first Lacy had seen Delaney since the news of the twins.

The two hugged and she grinned at Ava. “How are the kids doing?”

“They are great. It’s Daddy bonding time. He ordered pizza for Adele and him. Seth just loves having his time with the kids. I know Adele wanted to come, but I think it’s nice to have an adult night.”

“Avery will be here soon and she said Josie was excited to be staying with Carter tonight. She didn’t even ask if she could come.”

“It’s great when you find a man thrilled to be a father,” Ava said.
