“Once I was up there, it didn’t feel right not to tell them to leave the others alone,” he answered.

“And the girlfriend bit?” Opal asked.

The sonofabitch winked at me.

He actually winked at me.

“I thought it’d show me in a better light if I was in a monogamous relationship.”

“Are you insane?” I hissed. “Did it even occur to you that I might have a boyfriend, or have been out on a date these past three months?”

He scowled like he didn’t appreciate that possibility. “Do you? Have you?”

“That’s not the point!” I yelled.

“Okay, let’s everybody calm down,” Coach Madison said, used to dealing with emotionally charged situations. “Just everyone calm down.”

“That’s easy for you to say,” I scoffed. “Titan Miller didn’t just make you his fake girlfriend in front of the entire world.”

“I hate to say it, but it’s not a bad strategy,” Opal said, making me gawk at her. “It does soften his image a bit. Plus, with Orion Knight, Raven King, and Sebastian Havoc now married, it’s believable that Titan might be wanting to get serious. The fans will buy into it.”

I looked around the room. “Have you all lost your damn minds? I cannot pretend to be Titan Miller’s girlfriend. I mean, how absurd is that?”

“Why is that absurd?” Titan asked, eyeing me.

My head reared back. “Because you’reTitan Miller,”I replied, wondering why I was the only one that could see the flaw in his plan. “Do I look likeanyof the women that have ever followed you up to your hotel room? No. No, I don’t. No one is going to believe for a second that you’d actually date a normal person like me.”

Titan’s heavy steps sounded in the room as he approached me, taking my chin in his fingers, surprising everyone in the room. “Your looks and your job are precisely why it’s believable,” he snapped, pinching my chin. “You’re nothing like all those ball hoppers, and that’s what everyone is going to notice, and that’s why they’re going to believe it.” He let go of my chin as he added, “Don’t ever put yourself down in front of me again.”

I took a step back from him. “I wasn’t putting myself down,” I denied. “I was just pointing out the obvious.”

“Look, the damage is done,” Evan said, letting out a sigh of his own. “Unless we want to make a bigger disaster out of this than it already is, then we’re going to have to just go with it.”

“We tell no one,” Opal said, but Titan cut her off.

“I have to tell my family,” he told her. “They’d know if I had a girlfriend.”

I let out a shaky breath. “If we’re doing this, then my family also needs to know what’s going on.”

“There’s no if,” Titan said, earning a glare from me. “We’re doing this.”

Opal let out a sigh. “Family only,” she said. “And swear them to secrecy. If the truth gets out, it’ll ruin all of us.”

“This is crazy,” I muttered, rubbing my temples.

“Will you guys give us the room for a bit?” Titan asked, and my head snapped up, glaring at him again. “Lux and I have some things to discuss.”

“Fine by me,” Jake muttered, wise enough to distance himself from this disaster.

When the others followed him out of the room, I wondered how I was going to keep from strangling this man with my bare hands, and I really should have just been a kindergarten teacher.

Chapter 9

Titan~

Lux Leland was a fiery little thing, and she was making it a difficult thing to keep my dick soft around her. While I knew that she had a right to be pissed at me, it didn’t matter. As Evan had said, the damage had already been done, and as far as the sports world was concerned, Lux was my girlfriend.

“Look, I know you’re pissed-”
