After taking another drink of my tea, I said, “I think that I’m going to just take things one day at a time. Dating Titan doesn’t mean marriage, and I could always break up with him if it gets to be too much.”

Lita eyed me. “Because it’ll be that easy to break things off with him?”

“Titan Miller can have any woman that he wants,” I reminded her. “Me breaking things off with him will hardly send him into a tailspin.”

Her eyes widened. “Aren’t you the one that said he proposed at the restaurant?”

I shot her a look. “He wasn’t serious, Lita.”

“How do you know that? Did you ask him?”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” I chided. “There’s no way in hell that Titan Miller is going to propose to a woman that he just met.”

“You act like people don’t do crazy things in the name of love,” she said, hearts in her eyes.

“Normal people, maybe,” I conceded. “But not people that have millions to protect.”

“Romance is wasted on you,” she sighed, making me grin.

“If I ever do marry Titan, how about I let you say you told me so?”

Lita grinned back. “It’s a deal.”

The rest of our lunch was spent catching up on life, work, and gossip. While Lita adored her husband, she hated her sister-in-law. Connie Clover was a miserable cow, and she was constantly causing drama for Tim’s family. About seven years ago, her husband had gotten caught cheating on her, but instead of divorcing him and moving on with her life, she had chosen to stay with him and subject everyone to her misery. At first, Lita had felt sorry for her, but that ship had sailed a long time ago.

After promising to call her tomorrow, I went back to the office, doing my best to stay busy. Originally, I was supposed to have traveled with Titan, but since I had decided against it, I had some free time on my hands and not enough to do. I was half-ass hoping another scandal would pop off just to give me something else to obsess over.

When my phone chimed, I couldn’t help but smile. It was stupid and juvenile, but I couldn’t help the butterflies that started swarming around in my stomach.

Titan:Christ, I miss u

Me:U’ll b back n no time

Titan:Ur supposed 2 say that u miss me 2

Me:I miss u, Titan

The crazy thing was that it was true; I did miss him.

Chapter 19

Titan~

Things were different now, and that was the reason that I was pissed like I hadn’t been before. Before Lux, Rachel Malaki had been a nuisance, something that time and a paternity test would get rid of. I hadn’t even minded all her daily posts because, again, I knew that I’d be vindicated in a few months.

However, she was no longer posting pictures or videos of her pregnancy journey. Her followers were hyping her up, and yesterday’s post had her actually saying my name, talking about me as if we were in actual contact with each other, which we weren’t. The second that Rachel had made her announcement, I had let my agent, lawyer, and Lux handle things.

“Calm down, Titan-”

“The fuck I will,” I snapped. “How is it that she can just say whatever the fuck she wants about me, and I have to stand back and take it?”

Evan let out a sigh, letting my lawyer, Ja’Mar Williams, speak this time. “I can file an injunction to prevent her from using your name in her posts. Since her platform started making money, I can argue that her accounts are business accounts now, and that using your name without your permission is influencing the income generated from her posts.”

“I don’t give a fuck what you have to do,” I told him. “Just get that woman to quit saying shit about me.”

“Titan, you need to relax-”

“I will not fucking relax!” I yelled at both of them. “A paternity test will exonerate me as far as the baby goes, but I will not let Rachel Malaki speak about me as if we’re cordial or in a fucking relationship!”
