“Maybe you need to make another statement-”

“And say what, Evan?” I bit out. “What else is there to say that I haven’t already said?”

“You can make it clear that you aren’t in contact with her,” he suggested.

I ran a hand through my hair as I thought about what Lux had said at our first meeting. The less that was said, then the less likely that my words could be twisted, and it was true. There was also the fact that I might look guilty if I started insisting that there was no communication between us. I could already see the hateful comments flooding the internet, claiming that I was lying to keep Lux from leaving me. I was used to my name being uttered aloud, so I wasn’t bothered by the rumors or suppositions. However, Lux’s name being dragged through the social media cesspool bothered me a lot.

“We can always sue her for defamation of character,” Ja’Mar suggested.

“Except that she isn’t saying anythingbadabout me,” I pointed out. “She’s merely accusing me of fathering her child and making it sound like we still have some kind of relationship, even if it’s in a platonic nature.”

“Can we prove that she knows you’re not the father of her child?” Evan asked.

“Not without hauling every woman that I’ve ever had sex with into court,” I scoffed as I eyed him. “Would you even know where to begin to find all these women?”

Ja’Mar winced a bit. “Maybe we can bluff her.”

“And if she calls us on it?” I challenged. “Lux is the only woman that I’ve slept with from this city. All the other women have been from out of town or out of the country.”

“Jesus fucking Christ,” Evan choked out. “You slept with your PR agent? What the hell, Titan?”

Fuck.

I let out a heavy sigh as I ran both my hands through my hair. “It’s not like that.”

“Sure, it’s not,” Evan drawled out.

“What am I missing?” Ja’Mar asked.

I didn’t say anything as Evan let Ja’Mar in on our little public duplicity. “Lux Leland works for Copy Lights, and she was supposed to be working with Titan on the PR for this.” Evan shot me a look. “Until Titan announced to the world that she was his girlfriend, though she wasn’t.”

“She is now,” I said, feeling the need to correct him.

Ja’Mar looked at me. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Does the field not challenge you enough anymore or something? Out of all the women in the world, you had to fuckher?”

My chin came up. “Watch it,” I warned him. “Lux is my girlfriend. She’s not some ball hopper or one-night stand. She’s myactualgirlfriend.”

Ja’Mar threw his hands up in mock surrender. “Okay, okay,” he replied. “My bad.”

“Doessheknow this?” Evan asked, almost making me laugh.

I nodded. “She does. We started seeing each other this past weekend.”

“Look, I’ll start the paperwork to get Ms. Malaki to shut the fuck up, but you need to get it together, Titan,” Ja’Mar advised. “If you go off the rails, you might give her cause to sue, making things worse.”

I looked at my lawyer. “If she gets out of hand, I can’t make any promises,” I told him. “So, you better shut her the fuck up before I go after her for everything. I’ll even make a case for her being an unfit parent, allowing her narcissism and lies to dictate actions that might not be beneficial to the child’s mental health once it’s born.”

“Okay, slow down,” Evan said. “No need to turn this into a circus.”

“Then get that fucking woman to stop with her shit,” I fired back.

“I’ll take care of it as soon as I get back to the office,” Ja’Mar promised. “But you might consider letting me make a statement for you.”

“I’m a grown ass man, Ja’Mar,” I said. “I don’t need you to step in front of the cameras for me.”

“If you’re this pissed off, then you do,” he argued, Evan nodding. “I can give an unemotional statement to her recent post. Can you?”

“He can also get out of answering any further questions,” Evan pointed out. “He’s your lawyer, and everyone knows that confidentiality rules.”
