“I can always drive to the police station,” she deadpanned.

“I’m sure there’s at least one of them that’s a soccer fan,” I shot back.

The infuriated woman said nothing more as she got into her car. While I didn’t think that she’d really call the cops on me, I couldn’t be too sure. So, pulling out my phone, I dialed Raven.

“You need me?” he asked, foregoing any salutations.

“I might,” I drawled out. “I’m on my way to Lux’s condo, and there’s a good chance that she might call the cops on me before the night is over. So, I’ll need you to bail me out if she does.”

“I told Orion and Atlas to stick around through the weekend,” he grumbled before letting out a long sigh. “Okay, so why is there a chance that she’ll call the cops on you?”

Walking back to my car, I gave Raven a quick rundown about seeing Lux in the restaurant with Jalen after she tried to break up with me, and as a man in love himself, I got his full support on the situation, instead of a lecture that Lux seemed to think was warranted.

“He’s lucky that you didn’t kick his ass,” Raven huffed.

“That’s what I figured,” I agreed. “But Lux isn’t seeing it that way.”

“Just marry her already,” he advised. “Trust me when I tell you that it’ll make your life a lot easier if you do.”

“As soon as I get her to forgive me, then I will,” I retorted.

Raven let out another sigh. “Call me if you need me to bail you out of jail.”

“I will,” I assured him.

After hanging up, I got in my car, then made my way to Lux’s condo. Right now, it was a toss-up if she was even going to let me in, but I wasn’t going to let that deter me. The way that I was feeling right now, I’d gladly get arrested to make a point. Since Rachel and Aubrey had already taken it upon themselves to turn my life into a circus, what was one more headline?

As soon as I got to Lux’s place, I wasted no time getting to Lux’s condo. I automatically tried the doorknob since she was expecting me, and though not my place, when the knob turned, I pushed the door open, then let myself in. At this point, I was beyond caring about manners. When I didn’t see her anywhere, I started searching her condo, taking more liberties than she’d granted.

I finally found her in her bedroom, no longer wearing her professional attire. Dressed in only a pair of yoga pants and oversized Trick or Treat movie t-shirt, Lux glared at me as I invaded her private space.

“Just to be clear about something,” I said. “I’ve recently discovered that I get jealous very easily, so I suggest that you keep that in mind while you go about living your normal life.”

Her head jerked back a bit. “Are you seriously making me responsible foryourjealousy?”

“Since you’re the only reason behind it, yeah,” I retorted.

“You are unbelievable,” she replied. “Do you know that?”

“I’m simply telling you to keep that in mind, Lux,” I said, ignoring the obvious.

Cocking her head to the side, she eyed me, saying, “I have absolutely no idea what in the hell I’m supposed to do with you.”

“Love me.” I shrugged. “Not sure I see the complication.”

“Your life is the complication,” she snapped.

I arched a brow. “I’ve been vindicated, or haven’t you heard?”

“You’re the first person in my life that I have ever wanted to do bodily harm to,” she stated, and I was pretty sure that she was serious.

“I told you that I was telling the truth,” I said, eyeing her back.

She had the grace to flush. “I know,” she replied. “I know, and I’m sorry…I’m sorry that I let all the drama get to me. I shouldn’t have doubted you, especially when you’ve been nothing but honest about your private life.”

I stepped towards her, reached out with my left arm, then grabbing her hip, yanked her towards me. “How painful was it to say that?”

Her lips twitched. “Very.”
