“Titan-”

My words died on my lips as Titan knelt before me, forcing my legs open as his hands landed on my thighs. “I will do whatever you want me to do, Lux,” he repeated. “I will do whatever makes this situation bearable for you. If you want revenge, then we’ll get it. If you want to let this go, then we’ll let this go. I don’t care about anything else, baby. I only care about whatyouwant. I only care about what will make you forgive me for dragging you into a life that you never wanted.”

Again, I found myself not knowing what to say to him. In a matter of days, I’d gone from euphoric, confused, angry, and exhausted to what Titan was making me feel now. It felt like there was still a lot to unpack, but Titan Miller was irresistible when you were the center of his attention. Those astonishing blue eyes of his had a way of looking right through you.

I thought about his words, and were my future insecurities worth ruining the financial lives of two women that were already pariahs to the public? Would that make me feel better? Would that bring peace to my life? Titan was making this all about me, but what about him?

“If I wasn’t in the picture, what would you do?”

“I’d crush their necks underneath my cleats,” he automatically answered, not hesitating at all.

“And what excuse would you give for doing that?” I asked. “What valid reason would you give the public for kicking someone while they’re already down?”

There was a tick in his jaw, his beautiful face turning to stone. “I’d simply explain that ruining them is the least that I could do after almost losing you.”

“Titan…”

“It’s true,” he said. “I want the whole world to know what will happen if anyone ever comes after me again. I want them to know that I will protect what I have with you at all costs. I want them to know that there will always be a price to pay for anyone threatening your peace of mind.” His hands squeezed the top of my thighs. “I love you, Lux. I love you, and you can tell me that it’s too soon, or that emotions are running high, or whatever else you need to in order for this to make sense to you, but it’s the truth. Stil, it’s the truth. I love you.”

I felt the words in my chest and wanted to say them back, but I didn’t. When I said them, I wanted him to believe them. I wanted them said when we were in a good place, and we still weren’t in a good place right now. We were in a confused place, and I didn’t like that.

Thinking back to Rachel and Aubrey, I wasn’t the one that these women had attacked. I wasn’t the one that’d needed to defend myself. I wasn’t the one that’d been dragged through the mud, lies spewed all over the internet about.

“If you want to go after Rachel and Aubrey, then I’ll support you,” I finally told him. “We can write up a statement together, explaining why you feel the need to finish this.”

“Are you going to think less of me?” he asked, and it floored me that Titan Miller could feel vulnerable about anything. Especially, after he’d acted like such a lunatic at dinner earlier.

I shook my head. “No,” I answered honestly, knowing who Titan Miller had been all along. “I won’t think less of you if you go after them.”

“Why won’t you tell me that you love me?” he asked. “I know that you do.”

“It doesn’t feel right to say it while we’re still fighting,” I confessed. “While all of this is still going on.”

“Baby, we’re not fighting,” he chuckled softly. “We’re making up.”

I closed my eyes as his hands slid further up my thighs, my flimsy yoga pants doing nothing against the searing heat from his palms. I also had knowledge working against me right now. I knew what it was like to be owned by Titan Miller, and I wasn’t sure if I’d survive a Titan Miller when he was trying to make up with me.

Opening my eyes, I looked at him, his height making him still at eye-level with me, even though he was on his knees. “If you’re going to go after them, then do it because they really don’t affect us.”

His brows furrowed a bit in confusion. “What do you mean?”

“I get what you’ve been doing,” I said, and I really did. “I get why you’ve been holding back. I understand the point that you’ve been trying to make where I’m concerned.” His jaw ticked again when he realized where I was going with this. “But I’m the only one that’s supposed to have pieces of you that no one else has, and that’s not the case right now.”

“Lux-”

“How does it make you feel to know that someone in my past has a piece of me that you don’t?” His back immediately straightened. “It’s not a fun feeling, is it?”

After a few seconds of silence, he asked, “Do you believe that I love you?” I nodded. “Do you believe that you’re the only one?” I nodded again. “Do you love me?” I had no choice but to nod.

“I just…if this is real, then I need it to feel real,” I told him.

“Once I start, I’m not going to stop, Lux,” he warned. “Know this before we begin anything.”

I did know, and I still wasn’t scared.
