“Titan Miller? Of the Highland Wolves?” Decan asked.“ThatTitan Miller?”

Conrad nodded. “The very one.”

“Bullshit,” Ruben scoffed. “No way is Titan the father.”

“I never said that he was,” Conrad pointed out. “I just said that she’saccusinghim of being the father.”

“Something that could easily be proven or disproven by an amniocentesis,” Opal said, chiming in.

“The rumor is that Ms. Malaki is refusing to go that route because of the possible complications that can be brought on by such a procedure.”

“Do we even know if she’s actually pregnant?” I asked.

“Does it matter?” Conrad replied. “Nowadays, accusations don’t need any merit to them. Peoplewantto believe the worst in humanity. The good is boring, uneventful. There’s nothing salacious or entertaining about the truth.”

He wasn’t wrong.

“How far along is she?” Decan asked.

“Supposedly, she’s four or five months along.”

“Well, then she should be showing, right?” Ruben asked. “I mean, that’s about the right time, no?”

Opal scoffed. “Don’t look at me. I’ve never been pregnant.”

“Neither have I,” I quickly added.

Conrad let out a sigh. “There’s no real measure for that kind of thing,” he said. “It all depends on the woman’s figure, her genetics, and the size of the baby. Some women don’t show until their damn near six months along.”

“So, have you spoken with Titan about this yet?” I asked.

He’s currently in Louisiana right now,” Conrad answered. “He won’t be back until tomorrow.”

“When is the announcement going to be made?” Opal asked. “And how do you even know about it?’

“One of Ms. Malaki’s relatives doesn’t believe her,” he sighed. “Sounds like a lot of drama, but the relative called us, demanding to speak with me, letting me know that Ms. Malaki plans on announcing the pregnancy tonight after the game.”

“Why wait?” I asked.

“According to the relative, Ms. Malaki is banking on the Wolves to win, so in the highlight of their win and after-game press conferences, that’s when she wants to make the announcement. With the Wolves already being in the news, she figures her story will go viral quicker.”

“Why do you need all of us?” Opal asked. “Usually, we only assigned one agent to each scandal.”

“I want Titan Miller to be able to choose his PR rep, and Lux, Ruben, and Decan are the best that we have,” he answered, making me feel good about his confidence in me, but also making my stomach turn with the weight of these accusations. “Whoever he picks, their other accounts will be assigned to whoever is available. Titan Miller will need to be the priority.”

“So, I’m guessing that you want us to begin on our strategies, so that we can present them to Titan as soon as he’s off the plane?” I guessed.

Conrad nodded. “I’m not sure what the family dynamic is, but the relative that called me asked that she not be named during the course of all this.”

“God, I hate cowards,” Ruben muttered.

“Let’s not judge,” Opal chided sternly. “Don’t forget, everyone’s got issues in life.”

“Besides, she called the firm, didn’t she?” Decan added. “At least, she’s trying to do the right thing. Nowadays, all anyone does is sit back and record the drama.”

“Too true,” I muttered.

“Look, I already reached out to Coach Madison and gave him a heads up,” Conrad informed us.
