“Okay, then you demand a paternity test, and that’s that,” Orion said. “Yeah, the next few months might be tricky, but it’ll be fine.”

“Can I come back on the line now?!” Sparkly hollered.

I watched Sebastian nod at her, and as soon as she was back on the call, I asked, “Why can’t I get one now?”

“In her announcement, she mentioned not getting an amniocentesis because of the possible issues that can arise from the procedure,” Raven answered.

I ran a hand through my hair again. “Yeah, I guess I better watch the damn announcement, so that I know what I’m dealing with.”

“Do you even remember her?” Orion asked.

Luckily, this wasn’t anything that Nova didn’t already know about me, and she loved me anyways. “Coach Miller said her name was Rachel Malaki,” I replied. “I never ask for last names, and I’d lost count of how many Rachels have ended up in my hotel room a long time ago.”

“You guys are such romantics,” Nova quipped.

“Okay, so let’s just take this one day at a time,” Atlas suggested. “Get back home, and then we can go from there.”

“Coach Madison said that I’m already scheduled to meet with the team’s PR reps,” I informed them. “That’ll be my first move when I get home.”

“Well, let us know if you need us,” Atlas offered. “Orion and I can be on the first plane out.”

“I can also fly out tomorrow,” Nova chimed in.

I addressed Sparkly first. “No way are you flying with as pregnant as you are,” I told her. “While I appreciate the gesture, your health is way more important to me than some chick trying to grab headlines or money.”

“He’s right,” Raven added. “Plus, it’s not like Seb would let you go alone, and he has a game tomorrow night.”

“Look, let me watch the damn announcement, get home and talk with the PR people, then I’ll call you guys to let you know what’s going on,” I told them. “No need to sound the alarm just yet, right?”

“Whatever you want, Tite,” Raven agreed easily.

“Yeah, we’ll play this however you want, man,” Orion added.

After getting off the phone with them, I did the one thing that I really didn’t want to do. Even though it was very real, watching the press announcement would make itreallyreal. Still, I needed to know what I was up against. Like anything else in my life, I liked to be prepared.

As soon as the replay appeared on the screen, I watch some woman-that I didn’t even remember-try to ruin my life with each word coming out of her mouth.

Chapter 6

Lux~

When Titan Miller had walked into the conference room, I had almost swallowed my tongue. While I already knew what he looked like, photos and television were nothing compared to the man in the flesh.

Since Titan Miller’s stats were public, I’d already known the man to be six-foot-four, and I’d already known that he had dark blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. He reminded me of Benjamin Eidem, though a little more on the rougher side. He was also tattooed to hell and back, and it looked good on him. No wonder women threw themselves at him; I was close to doing the same. However, the fact that he was three years younger than me made a huge difference.

Like last time, Conrad, Opal, Ruben, and Decan were in the room with me, but so was Titan and his agent, Evan Fletcher. Jake Rodham, a representative for the Wolves, was also in attendance, but that was to be expected. No way were they not going to be on top of their multi-million-dollar investment.

After all the introductions were made, Conrad kicked off the meeting. “I asked three of our best agents here, so that Mr. Miller can choose who he is more comfortable working with. We don’t want to limit Mr. Miller’s options during such a stressful time in his life.” Conrad leaned back in his seat. “Of course, that doesn’t mean that Mr. Miller can’t choose to work with all three of our agents if he feels it might suit his needs better.”

“Mr. Miller, have you seen the press announcement?” Opal asked him.

“Yes, I have.”

Christ, even his voice sounded like sex.

“What do we need to know?” she went on.

“It’s not true,” he denied. “Apart from probably having slept with her, the rest of it is not true.”
