I wanted to kiss her mouth hard until her lips turned red. But first, I had to finish what we started back in the desert.

“I want to spend my life trying new things with you. Being crazy. Settling somewhere, one day. Maybe we can practise here,” I said softly. My mouth dried and even knowing her answer, it was still hell on earth to do this. “Will you marry me?”

“Yes.” She sprang forward, burying her face in my neck. Her whole body wrapped around me as I held her, her legs tingling over my hips, her arms thrown over my shoulders.

“Thank God. That was fucking terrifying.”

She giggled while I found her hand–the right one and worked out which finger the ring went on. Then I slid the platinum band over her finger, setting the three large diamonds embedded into it at the front.

“Ice, blue star, and–” Her brow furrowed as she tried to work out my reasoning.

Mine didn’t match up with hers but that was okay. As long as she saw something in them and wanted to wear my ring, she could call them whatever she wanted.

But she was stuck on the final stone, and I had the perfect answer.

“Snow,” I murmured, catching her chin and turning her face toward the mountain side.

Tiny flakes drifted across the tree tops to cling to the glass in a kaleidoscope of intricate patterns.

She smiled, letting me kiss her. My forever girl. The only one I ever wanted, and thankfully, she wanted me right back.

My Wrenlee.

I slipped my arms around her waist and peeled her out of my shirt, the one she was wearing when I found her again, and started a slow journey along her body, worshipping her with my mouth.

The firewood could wait. I had a girl to please. My girl.

Forever.
