“Aunt Sage is helping that man with breakfast.”

“Mmm. Can’t wait. I’m super hungry this morning.”

Finn put his arm over J.T.’s stomach. “Can we stay here just a little while longer?”

“Of course.”

“Do we have to go home after breakfast?”

J.T. patted Finn’s arm. “No. I think we’re staying here until after lunch. Then we’re heading back.”

“Cool. What are we going to do?”

“Whatever your Aunt Sage has planned.”

He looked up at J.T. “She’s fun. I like her.”

“I like her too, kid.”

“I wish I had a sister.”

“Hmm. I guess they’re okay to have.”

“It’s not fair. You have a sister and a brother.”

J.T. laughed. “I’m pretty lucky in that department.”

The zipper was opened again and Joey looked in. “Are you two going to spend all day in bed?”

J.T. smiled at her. “With the right company, it’s not a bad way to spend a day.”

She pointed at him. “Behave yourself. Breakfast is almost ready and there’s no line at the outhouse. Time to make your move.” She held a hand out to Finn. “Come on, sweetheart. I’ll take you to the bathroom.”

“I want Dad to take me.”

J.T. smiled, and Joey shook her head. “Fine. But up you go, guys. You’re burning daylight.”

Twenty minutes later, J.T. and Finn met Joey at one of the picnic tables for breakfast. Joey had Finn sit between them, which J.T. assumed was so he’d keep his hands to himself. It wasa good call. He’d love to put his hands all over her. It probably wouldn’t go over too well with the rest of the campers, though.

Breakfast was scrambled eggs, slices of fried ham, hashbrowns, and toast. It was served family-style from big serving dishes, and it was good.

Xander and his kids were sitting at the next table, and J.T. watched the man stay patient and in control of them. When Sage came and sat across the table from Xander, he gave her a big smile.

J.T. grumbled. “Friends my ass.”

Joey looked around Finn at J.T. “What was that?”

“My sister and the bakery guy.”

Joey looked at them. “Oh, right. He’s very nice.”

“So you’ve said.”

“They’re just friends.”

J.T. nodded. “Right. So she says.”

Joey looked back at J.T. “What’s your problem with him?”
