“Phew. I didn’t want that to become a thing. Your house is great and all, but sharing a room with Finn isn’t really ideal. Not to mention having guests upstairs at some point.”

“Once we’re open, I would like to have someone there at night.”

“But it doesn’t have to be you. We’ll hire someone.”

“Okay.” She took a breath. “So, we’re really doing this?”

“We’re really doing this.” He pulled her down next to him. “Now you need to wait until I figure out a way to ask that can be told to our children.” He cocked his head. “Wait. Children? Plural?”

She smiled. “It’d be nice to give Finn a sibling at some point. Don’t you think?”

J.T. nodded. “At least one. Maybe two.”

“Two sounds perfect.” She kissed him, but stopped when a text notification sounded on her phone. “That’s probably Ember.”

“Already?”

“She said it’d be a couple of hours. It’s been that and more.”

“It went by way too fast.”

She put a hand on his cheek. “Soon we’ll be together so much, you’ll get sick of me.”

“I don’t see that happening.”

She kissed him one last time, then got up and grabbed her clothes off the floor. “Only four more days until Saturday.”

J.T. groaned. “Four long days and lonely nights in this bed.”

She stopped at the bathroom door and looked back at him. “I guess you better get your proposal plan figured out.”

“I guess I better.”

They drove back to the new house together, then after a long kiss and hug, Joey took off across the field to her house. J.T. watched her go until he lost sight of her. He sighed, then went inside.

Sawyer was in the kitchen putting up cupboard doors. “Welcome back.”

“You got a lot done.”

“Yeah. It’s amazing how that happens when you stick around and actually work.”

J.T. leaned against the counter. “When are you going back to Missoula?”

“Monday.”

“Oh, cool. So maybe we could make a trip to Billings before Saturday.”

“As long as Dad is okay with us both being gone.” He finished putting in the last screw into the hinge on a cupboard door, then turned to look at J.T. “Why? What’s in Billings?”

“Um…jewelry stores.”

Sawyer grinned. “Don’t tell me.”

“It’s time. This living apart is killing me.”

“Congratulations. Does she know it’s coming?”

“Yeah. We talked about it. But I need to ask her formally. She wants a proposal we can share with our current and future children.”
