“Got it. What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know. Nothing too elaborate. But nice. And memorable.”

“Hmm. I’ll think on that.”

“No. I need to figure it out on my own. But help with the ring would be appreciated.”

“We should bring Sage. She’s going to be a lot more helpful than me.”

“I could take her and leave you here to work.”

“No way. I’m coming.” He pointed at J.T. “You asked me first.”

“Fine. The O’Connell siblings will go to Billings and find a damn engagement ring.”

“Can we get pizza at Pizza Blast?”

“You want to go there for the game room. Their pizza is terrible.” Sawyer grinned. “Fine. Pizza Blast. But ring first.”

Chapter forty-three

"You guys are such guys."

Sage sat between her two brothers in J.T.’s truck and tucked her arms through theirs.

“I’m so excited.”

J.T. glanced at her. “Don’t make me sorry I asked you to come along.”

“You need me.”

“Hmm.”

She nudged him. “We should get something for the road.”

“I can stop at the grocery store.”

Sage thought for a moment. “How about some muffins?”

Sawyer looked at her. “Muffins?”

“Or bear claws. Coffee. Doesn’t that sound good?”

J.T. looked at Sawyer, then shrugged. “I could go for a bear claw.”

J.T. parked in front of the bakery and Sawyer got out of the truck. Sage slid over and stepped to the curb. “Are you coming?”

“No. You go ahead. I don’t want to witness your attempt at not-so-subtle flirting.”

“Fine. I’ll be right back.”

She ran a hand through her hair, then entered the bakery and found Xander sliding a tray of pastries into the display case.

“Good morning Ranch Girl.”

“Xander.”

“What can I get you?”
