Finn pulled the blanket off Pablo’s back and followed J.T. to the saddle rack. J.T. hung the saddle on an empty rack, then tookthe blanket. “We’ll hang this up and let it air out a little. Pablo got a little sweaty carrying two cowboys today.”

They unsaddled Shadow. Then J.T. showed Finn how to brush the horses down before putting them into their stalls and throwing them some hay.

“And that’s how it’s done. You always need to take care of your horse. Because he’s always going to take care of you.”

Finn nodded.

“Next time you come over, we’ll put you up on a horse by yourself and ride around the pen.”

“Cool.”

“Are you ready to go get some supper?”

“Yes, sir.” He took J.T.’s hand, and they headed for the mudroom door. When they went into the kitchen, Aunt Genny and Jacob were preparing dinner together.

Genny stopped when she saw Finn. “My goodness. Hello there, Finn.”

“Hi.”

“I’m your Aunt Genny.”

“Hi.”

Jacob gave him a smile. “This isn’t just Finn. This is Famous Finn from Boise.”

“Oh, I see. It’s very nice to meet you. I don’t believe I’ve ever had dinner with someone famous before.”

Finn laughed. “I’m not that famous.”

“Well, good.”

J.T. looked at the stove. “What’s for dinner?”

“Pork chops, baked potatoes, and green beans.”

Jacob opened the oven. “And some of your aunt's cheese biscuits.”

“My favorite. Where’s everyone else?”

“In the living room.”

J.T. nudged Finn. “Come on. Let’s go find your mom.”

They found the rest of the family in the living room, and Jake smiled when he saw them. “There they are. Did you get those horses put away?”

J.T. nodded. “Yes, sir. With Finn’s help. He’s quite the cowboy already.”

Finn grinned. “I brushed the horses.”

“Good job.”

Sage smiled at Finn. “That’s my favorite thing to do, besides riding, of course.”

Finn nodded. “They’re all pretty now and ready for bed.”

Genny came out of the kitchen. “Okay. We’re eating in the dining room. Go sit down.”

They all headed for the dining room and Genny pointed to two chairs next to J.T.’s. “Joey, you and Finn can sit there between J.T. and Sawyer.”
