“Just gonna stand there?” His voice was husky, like he’d been screaming for days.

“Waiting for you to stop hogging the coffeepot,” she replied, smiling so he’d know she wasn’t attacking him.

He shifted and she hurried forward to grab a mug and pour herself a cup. Then she grabbed the sugar and poured herself a liberal amount of sweetness.

“My teeth just spontaneously erupted with six cavities.”

She glanced over at him. Light-green eyes stared back. Drop-dead gorgeous didn’t accurately cover how beautiful he was.

“You okay?” he asked.

“You’ve rendered me speechless.”

His brow furrowed. “How?”

“Because you’re a solid eight on the whole sex-o-meter scale.”

He blinked. “Only an eight?”

“I hope I didn’t disappoint you too much,” she said. “I’m sure someone out there would rate you a nine point five.”

“Why not a ten?”

She shrugged. “No one’s perfect.” She held out her hand. “I’m Vivi Wence.”

He stared at her hand for a long time. To most, he probably seemed rude, but she saw a brief flash of hesitant yearning gleaming from his eyes, so she stayed put. Waiting. Then finally, he took hold and shook.

“I’m Ronin.”

“Oh, that explains the tattoo.” She smiled and let go of the handshake. “I’ve been crap at guessing why bikers have the names they have, but I feel lucky. Here goes. Nickname?”

A hint of a smile lifted the corner of his sinfully plump lips. “Used to be, but it’s legally my name now.”

“Yay! I can finally cross that off my bingo list. Anyway, I assume you know Lincoln.”

“Of course. Tall, blond hair, blue eyes. Not that good-looking.”

“Annnd … you just went down to a seven.”

“Ouch,” he said with a mock wince.

“Do you happen to know his twin?”

“Perhaps. Who are you again?”

“I’m Lincoln’s forever girl, and yes, he knows that. He told me he has a twin named Parker and that they don’t talk. So, I’m asking if you know where Parker can be located.”

He didn’t reply right away as the gears turned in his head to determine if she was legit or not. Vivi waited, maintaining eye contact to prove she wasn’t a threat. Then he straightened and nodded.

“Parker is a surgeon at Cardinal General.”

She tilted her head. “Can I borrow the truck?”

“Sure,” he replied, then he bent closer. “But if you hurt Lincoln or Parker, I will personally skin you alive and make lampshades from your flesh.”

“Well, that turned intoSilence of the Lambsreally quick.”

He winked at her.
