“How many floors is this?” I asked, awed.

“Fifteen,” he answered. “I’m on the top.” He sounded proud, and he should of. The place was booming, planes flying in and out.

“It looks so busy,” I commented.

“We’ve grown a lot in the past couple of years,” he said, sounding proud again and taking my hand. “But the building and the airport isn’t what I want to show you.”

I followed him, curious, loving the feeling of how small my hand was in his. I couldn’t deny it anymore, I was falling for Adam, and hard.

We entered the building and he led me to one of the lower floors, encased on either side by large windows. We had been walking for a while and I was panting. It was a warm day and I tired so easily, being pregnant with the twins.

“It’s just a bit further,” he promised as I huffed and puffed.

As we walked, I noticed a jet parked out on a runway, and my eyes widened.

“Adam, is that?—”

“It’s my jet,” he said. “I bought it with my first million,” he told me, smiling.

“Oh my God,” I gasped. “I’ve never even seen a private jet before.”

“You have now,” Adam chuckled.

We walked outside, across the runway, and he took me on board. The cabin was nice, surprisingly roomy, with a little liquor cabinet and champagne flutes hanging on hooks. It was bigger than the first class cabin I had flown in once, when the school paid for the top teachers to go on a little retreat, sparing no expense.

“It’s huge,” I said. “It doesn’t look this big from the outside.”

“It’ll carry twenty passengers,” he stated, and I couldn’t stop staring at all the fancy controls in the cockpit. I’d never been in a cockpit before, and I was shocked when Adam sat down in the pilot’s seat.

“Wait,” I started, touching his shoulder. “You’re a pilot?”

“Licensed,” he admitted, grinning up at me. “We’re going on a little trip.”

“Where are we headed?” I asked, and he smiled.

“Los Angeles, just for the day,” he said, and I couldn’t keep from grinning.

“I’ve never been,” I admitted. I’d always stayed right there in Seattle, other than when Adam took me out of town to thewedding. I was a bit of a homebody, and I didn’t have much money to travel.

“Sit down,” he told me, and I just stared at him.

“Here?” I asked, pointing to the seat next to him. “Really?”

Adam nodded, still smiling broadly. He was so handsome when he smiled. It lit up his whole face and made him look ten years younger, emphasizing the sparkle in his blue eyes.

I sat down gingerly, not wanting to touch any of the controls. Adam got up to close the door and seal it, then sat back down and started up the jet. I yelped.

“We’re not goingnow,are we?” I asked breathlessly.

“We sure are,” Adam said with another chuckle, apparently finding my awe funny.

“What about all these controls? What if I touch something I’m not supposed to?”

“You can’t hurt anything over there,” he said flippantly, but I kept my hands by my sides anyway and buckled my seatbelt as he put on his headset and announced that he was taking off.

When we rose in the air, I squealed, unable to help myself, and Adam laughed out loud, reaching over to put his hand on my thigh.

It was about a two hour flight and I wished desperately that I could have a glass of champagne. Adam had thought of everything and had sparkling cider on the jet for me.
