“How do you know Raven was here?”

He rolls his eyes. “Welcome to small town living in Winter Falls.”

“Except he’s not staying,” Damon says.

“Answer the question,” Miller grumbles.

“Geez. Who pissed in your Cheerios?”

“He and Eden are trying for a baby. He wants to get home to ‘work’ on the situation,” Elder explains.

I thought Indy and I were headed toward babies and white picket fences and I do’s. Instead, I’m sleeping on my bandmate’s couch. Life sucks.

Peace kicks my foot. “Answer the question. Did you break up with Indigo because of anything her mom said or did?”

I shrug. “Kind of.”

Brody presses a fresh bottle of beer in my hands. “Drink.”

“Kind of is not an accepted answer,” Peace explains. “You can correct your answer or I’ll punch you.” He appears excited about the prospect of punching me. Great. Something to look forward to.

“Raven pointed out how I will never be good enough for Indy.”

“What the actual hell?” Damon asks.

“It’s true.” I slump against the sofa. “I’m a bastard with an alcoholic mother.”

He grits his teeth and a muscle in his jaw ticks. “Is my daughter less than because her biological mother abandoned her?”

I rear back. “No. Of course not.”

“Do you think I’m a bastard?” Peace asks.

“Um, no.”

“Damon Bragg, Sr., never acknowledged my existence either.”

I wave away his answer. “Your situation is different. You were raised by two loving parents. I’m trailer trash.”

“I really want to punch some sense into you,” Peace says.

Miller grunts. “I got this.”

He prowls toward me and I slide down the sofa until I’m practically sitting on Damon’s lap. “I’m answering all of your questions.”

“But you’re being a dumbass,” Riley says.

“And this is from the man who needed three second chances from Moon,” Brody points out.

Riley punches Brody in the shoulder but before Brody can respond, Peace steps between them. “Enough. We have bigger problems to deal with than your identical twin bullshit.”

“I’m not a problem. I solved the problem,” I claim. “I let Indy go.”

“You let the woman you love go because you’re an idiot. Not sure how this solved a problem,” Damon claims.

“I’m not an idiot.”

“Would you think less of me because I grew up in a trailer?” Peace asks.
